Seeking Amp Cover

Customcovers did a good job on my Acme even tho the padding was not as much as I expected.

I wanted a cover for an older Peavey PA speaker I'm going to start using. I measured it, then went to Musician's Friend website and bought a closeout Fender cover for $19 + $5 shipping. It's a vinyl cover, but will serve its purposes as I'm not rough on my stuff.

I'll throw in another vote for studioslips. One bit of advice, I went with the clamshell bag, because I wanted complete coverage. In retrospect, I shoulda just went with the slip cover- so I could just slip it over at the end of the night, instead of having to flip the cab around to get it in the bag! The good this is, once you give them the measurements, they add it to their drop down options, so when I'm ready to get a slip cover, it's already there.

Yeah, b/c the combo I'm desperately trying to cover with something better than thick plastic sheets weights 106 lbs and MUST be rolled on coasters at the very least for long distances, given that I've no roadies..well, that would rule out the clamshell, unless I got extremely nitpicky w/msrmts and gave the exact locations of the holes for the wheels :hmm:

I read you. I got a simple vinyl cover for my practice-amp: A pre-Fender SWR LA-15. Why? Well, the thing is good, but it's not worth that much and wouldn't, therefore, be too difficult to replace with something...better. And it basically doesn't get moved around much.

The Kustom, on the other hand, is a monster. It pumps out 600W RMS--yes it does--no extra cabs needed. Too many girlie-men play bass now, and whined to Kustom that this most excellent rig was too heavy. So their problem was my gain: The combo was d/c (and now sells as separate comps--head + cab) and I got it for 1/3 the street price, NEW.

And this monster's going to replace the backlines I've had to use when gigging. Bad habit! I want to use my own amps even in big venues: There's always the DI option. So given that it'll be shuttled from van to sidewalk to slimy alley to big ol' club etc., I'll need substantial padding if I don't want this bad boy to look like an exploded piece of ordnance after a month, and, worse, sound like one.

Thank you for your feedback about the quality of AmpCovers' product. For some reason, it actually has the precise cover I need, so that would delete the hassle of custom-ordering and so on.

I hesitated for a long time, b/c: (a) I seemed ludicrous to me that a Co. HQ'd in the US (Kustom) wouldn't sell covers in the US, regardless of D/C-status of amp. But that's how it is. (b) I wanted to throw some $ at our pathetic economy if I could, without getting robbed, which I've already experienced. (c) There was no way for me to determine whether this Co. was worth the try. So a TB'er says it is! Nice.

Happy Holidays,

PD
