I bought a 1.8 with internal 350 watt amp in 2020. I’ve been unable to connect with Mike by email to get specifics so I can sell the amp. While it’s not particularly complex, I’d like to be able to provide buyers with some info on speaker, ohms, etc. any help appreciated. You are welcome to respond to thread or private message. Double Bass Seeking info on MAS 1.8

I'm assuming you have the smaller cabinet that doesn't have the amp on the bottom with vents. If that's the case it's Eminence 8 ohm Driver. He built so many different versions that it's tough to pin them down. Mine is a three way. Duke Lejune built the crossover for the model I have. I thought the IcE power amp in mine was 500 watts but I could be completely wrong about that. I think the tweeter was a soft dome from Ciare. Since it's powered the cabinet's impedance really isn't a factor I guess.

Mike said that the Neutrix Connector below the AC Cord and Combi Connector was to add a unpowered speaker cabinet. I have used it to run a extension cabinet.
Thanks Ric. I figured extension cabinet, unaware of ohm requirements. I’m ignorant of this stuff but understand it is a thing. And don’t want to screw up someone’s cabinet. Since the built in amp is transistor is there little risk, and is it as simple as measuring ohms across the built in speakers?
I think the question is: what is the amplifier rated for? To be on the safe side, you should avoid using any extension cabinet rated less than 8ohms. That will give you a total load of 4 ohms on the power amp, which any class D amp can handle. Going less than 4 ohms could damage the power amp if it's not designed for it, so you are right to ask Mike.
I think Ric is right about the driver being Eminence in 2020. That's what Mike originally used in the 8" cabs.

Sensitivity 94 db I would say that you should have at least 150 watts to adequately drive a single MAS18. Keep in mind that if you add a second MAS18 the sensitivity rises to 98db (4 ohms)
Impedance 8 ohms
Frequency response -3db at 35 hz to 14khz. (adding the Ciare supertweeter brings it past 20khz)

Thanks for the nice specifications. What we have to remember is that Mike was changing and customizing the 1.8's for different clients. For instance, my Neutrix Speaker jack is on the side of the cabinet, just below the Combi Connector into the power amp. As bassically_eli says it would make sense that the extension is a 8 ohm connection. He sold pairs of 1.8’s with a second unpowered 8 ohm extension.
