Whoever bought the fretless didn't hang about!
(On mine, the wood is now settled. I decided against the MDF and plumped for buckeye.)

I have some creamy white buckeye on my fretless and would love a bass with blue buckeye but that is quite rare.
Anyway Martin has such a good eye for wood that I don't think you have anything to worry about.![]()
In the photos it's a sort of creamy colour in the middle and very pale blue around the outside. I'm presuming the colours will be intensified by the application of varnish (or whatever it is) but even if they weren't it's an interesting piece of wood. I have had to - and been happy to - trust Martin's judgment.
I've also gone for the custom 16-segment LED option on the neck with USB connector so that I can display short messages while I play.

Cool! Glad to see the Oilslick has gone to a good home.
Did you ask for the dot markers on the fingerboard face to be installed?
Hi
As the now proud owner of what I think is called "Olislick" (5 String Flambouyant Fretless) do I qualify to become a member of the Owners Club?

Ah Ha!!!
Interesting, on the paper work it said Flamboyant, but then they clearly got confused by ticking the Single Cutaway Series 1 5 String Box as well, so now I know.
It great to know the previous owners like this, you really looked after this baby. I've yet to put it down since i bought it, my poor 4 string Warwick is going to get very very lonely.....
Like you Pierre I'm not sure I really deserve this, but hell, who cares!!! I've wanted a Sei Bass now for years, and i just couldn't resist this one..... went way way over my budget, a sheer master class in justification stories to my wife
Now, time to get back to the scales!!
My flamboyant 5 frettless will be at the gallery for sale on saturday!! One bart soap bar, piezo bridge, blue leds!
cheers
. Is that a new option Martin is now doing or was it a special request from yourself?Hey Pierre
Ooooooooohhhhh - saw your bass today - it's gonna be tasty that one.... and there are so many nice Sei's in production right now too - including mine - John was quite literally working on the neck when I stopped by - and I couldn't resist taking a few snaps of the body and neck together:

The body is off the finishers soon - but Pino's P-bass is being varnished in the shop and the spalt comes out quite a bit darker than it is here - which will contrast beautifully with that lovely Birdseye board. I'm going to a matte finish on the neck which the guys will do in the workshop - and I ordered some Nordy JSE4s - they sound great.
I'm still not decided on the circuit yet - any hints or ideas appreciated - Martin was saying how he liked the new MEC circuit so I might give that a go - I don't want anything too agressive.
Cheers for now - so many Seis so little time!
Mike
