Sei Owner's Club (Part 2)

I've been reading about everyone's Sei basses and looking at the great pictures. Thought it was time to join in. I'm having an original 4 string headless made that should be ready in August. May I become a member of the Sei Club?

I last saw my bass in Feb, it had just had body attached to the neck and neck shaped. Also saw the magnificent 9 string.

Here's the specs:
34" Scale headless
7 piece neck - wenge and maple
24 fret macassar ebony fingerboard.
Ash body.
Walnut veneer front and back.
Gloss finish.
Red side LEDs
Bartolini pickups.
Probably a John East pre amp.

Welcome and it's great to have a female member of our club, I think I've glimpsed your bass in the shop, the specs look great and I'm sure it'll be a beauty... got any pics? Hassle Paddy for a club number and once more welcome aboard, you really will be a very happy bass bunny when you finally get your Sei... they are so worth the wait!

Speaking of which I was told my Jazz could be ready in just a few weeks... I'm seriously excited about this bass, though I'm keeping myself busy with the Single Cut, which continues to be an absolute joy to play. Happy days...

Hey guys,

I'm having some custom pups made and need to get some specs on the Barts that are currently installed. I measured the width and length and it seems to correspond to the measurements of Bartolini's M3 model pup on their website- 38mm x 89mm ie. EMG 35 shape.

Does anyone know the depth of these pups? No info on the Bart website.

Matthew - sounds like a crap time mate, glad your able to keep the fretless. I remember from when I tried it at the Gallery how cool it is :) Here's to better times

Now - I know we've talked about this before but we really have to sort out this get together! Be great to put some faces to names!

If we have enough interest then I'll be quite happy to do the organising (so long as I'm not treading on anyone's toes here!)

What I'm thinking is an overnight jaunt somewhere in the Midlands mid to late September - with the emphasis on keeping the costs down!

Rooms in a hotel on a B&B basis with a central room to set up an play in - oh - and a bar!

So for starters - let's get a list of interested people together! Whose up for this and how does the 19th September sound?

Hey Paddy and y'all

Yes I am getting very exciting about my jazz - just owning a 4 string again will be so cool - I've seen so many people playing Jazz basses lately it's really got my J pangs going big time! But I'm actually very busy with other stuff atbthe mo - and the SC continues to be an absolutely joy - so I'm FAR less stressed about this Sei's arrival than the first one...

More importantly it's my son Ben's 1st birthday tomorrow - April 22nd - and that's just amazing, he's doing well and is very much the biggest joy in life for me right now ;)

Re a GTG for us Sei Folk - I'd love that - I always have great chats with those that I meet at the shop so it'd be a pleasure to hang out and have a beer and a jam with you all, re the midlands I have relatives in Birmingham (Solihul) so I could make a night of it if that's the easiest mid-way point. Other London-based Sei peeps could lift share as well to cut costs, just a thought.

Hi Guys

I like to read the forum now and again and I have logged on to ask some advice.

I've owned my Flamboyant Headless 6 for over a year now and it is absolutely the best bass I have ever owned and has been the flagship of my 6 stringers - Ibanez and Cort being the other two. However, I need to branch out in a different direction musically speaking, and I need to fund the purchase of new equipment by moving ownership of my Sei to another player (OK, I mean I'm selling the bass...).

I'm a little reluctant to simply use eBay and have read on the forum about the Basschat marketplace and consignment at the Bass Gallery. How does the latter work in terms of commission?

I think I am at least the third owner and it has picked up a few dings here and there but nothing major. I paid £1650 for the bass and I think this is still a reasonable valuation but appreciate that it is probably a buyers market.

I'd love to hear any opinions or advice from other members of this great little club.
