Maple on flamed swamp ash, flamed maple and mahogany neck, b/eye maple board with purfling, red side LEDs, Barts, Schack and piezo bridge; luvverly. Light weight too. It's a beaut! Up until recently belonged to Howie I believe....I'd be interested to know who commissioned it and when. It's certainly softened the blow of losing my Alembic.

Yowza, that looks gorgeous, congrats! Yet another stunned from Mart and John and another reason to love Sei basses!

Yes indeed, that was my Sei. I am glad that it has gone to a good home. It is a stunner. I bought it 2nd hand because I couldn't wait for my build to finish.

I am feeling horrible now that I have seen the photos I have to say but I was only keeping it because it was nice to look at really - I hardly ever played it. In fact I still have 2 Seis that I hardly ever play - I must be mad.

For about 2 minutes before I bought it. ;-) Seriously, went down with the intention of ordering a build (Mike was kind enough to let me try his incredible singlecut whilst I was there; I was planning to order something similar). I saw this, played it, loved it, discussed a build and Martin talked me into buying this instead. ;)

Thanks Howie. I must admit I'm amazed you got rid of it (although I'm glad you did!), it's an incredible bass. I remember it being on ebay back in the day.

It's strange how it works out; obviously I contacted you a short time ago about the possibility of getting my old headless back from Bob, then thought I'd look into a build first as I had the available cash after selling my Alembic, went down to the Gallery to do so planning to get something like Mike's (big thanks to Mike BTW, that really was above and beyond the call of duty), and ended up buying your old bass! Ironically my old headless has just been sold on to another Basschatter so would have been available, but I'm glad I got this, although I still want one very similar to Mike's. One day soon maybe...BTW, if you ever think of getting rid of anything else, you know where to find some likely buyers... ;)

That 9 is staggering, although you're a far braver man than me; the width of that fingerboard is scary. Love the fishtail! Best of luck with it!

Melt, thanks for the kind comments about the 9, though I honestly think mad is rather nearer the mark than than brave...I have to admit to planning to get Martin to install a switch for changing from full range (all 9 strings) to just bass only (bottom 4/5 strings). Martin calls it the cheat switch!! :D:D

Yes dude - it will be a great bass when it's done - hang in there it WILL be worth the wait.

I made a new tune and just finished it - it all came together when I switched my stings (after nearly ten years of using the same damn band, Players Elites) to D'Addarios (the Gary Willis' endorsed EXLs. Hot damn do they sound sweet - but I feel like I'm cheating a bit as I'm using the top 5 strings of a six string set - yet I'm tuning them B-G - it means the bass is super light and hyper sensitive but I still have SEI TONE!

Anyway judge for yourselves - all the lead bass on this track was done with the Sei Single Cut with the new strings on... I love it.

Just played Bullfrog. Really nice and great playing as always. The light strings do seem to make for a tone that really stands out in a great wayalthough that could just be my imagination knowing you are using lighter strings! If you understand what I mean.

Anyway, keep them coming I always enjoy listening to your creations

Hello everyone,
I've been reading about everyone's Sei basses and looking at the great pictures. Thought it was time to join in. I'm having an original 4 string headless made that should be ready in August. May I become a member of the Sei Club?

I last saw my bass in Feb, it had just had body attached to the neck and neck shaped. Also saw the magnificent 9 string.

Here's the specs:
34" Scale headless
7 piece neck - wenge and maple
24 fret macassar ebony fingerboard.
Ash body.
Walnut veneer front and back.
Gloss finish.
Red side LEDs
Bartolini pickups.
Probably a John East pre amp.
