"Select Showcase Achievement" and Name Change

I want to get rid of the statement (link?) "Select Showcase Achievement" from underneath my name and avatar. I've looked everywhere I can think of in Preferences and Account options. I would prefer to show nothing at all there. (Actually, I liked it better when one's location was always visible under their avatar without having to pull it up.)

As a secondary question, I see that 'Change Name' is now an option; if I change my name, will I keep my followers and all my 'likes'? Or more importantly, my all my achievements and the all-important achievement level?

Edit: OK, after two days of trying, I finally did figure out how to turn off "Select Showcase Achievement". (You select the link under the avatar and then do a 'Save' with nothing selected.) So now my only question is about the name change. Thanks in advance.

Edit #2: Well heck... I guess my 'fix' didn't work... I still have "Select Showcase Achievement" under my dang name. So still interested in how to remove that.

"Select Showcase Achievement" is only visible to you under your avatar, because it is a link to the option. I don't see a way to turn it off, sorry.

Thanks for that info. At least that's something. It's only mildly irksome. I wonder if I select something, it will stop showing up on my feed -- I don't see any celebrations or showcases of achievement showing up under other folk's names.

If you select something and save it you'll then see "Change Achievements"! Take your choice.

As I said, it's a link to change what is shown. You can't change others' display, so you don't see it under their avatars, only they do.

What a pointless feature. (IMHO, of course.) I'm trying to keep an open mind about this new upgrade, but the whole 'Achievements' thing strikes me as being a bit like primary school. "Oh look everybody... Redd got a gold star!" I do celebrate your being a "Level 2 Reactor" though, which I must admit sounds somewhat ominous. Kudos for that.

Thanks, Redd. And thanks for helping me work up to "Level 3 Reactor", too. I also like to wear my "I Voted" and "I Gave Blood" stickers IRL from time to time. Drives Mrs. Dog crazy! So what if I "haven't done either of those things in years"! I did 'em once upon a time and got the awards, so I'm gonna wear 'em! (How 'bout that for a reaction?)
