True enough. I shouldnt let it get to me, you've got a point there, I guess I have a certain respect for musicians and it hurts to see so many be so full of themselves is all.

Hey morph, do yourself a favor and print this thread off, and put it away for 10 years....maybe 5 if your current rate of maturing happens to develop tenfold.

That way, you can kick your own arse. That is unless, your arse runs the other way.

No, he's dissing him because he's doesn't rate his playing. Just because someone sells lots of music that doesn't mean they're any good (see your earlier comment about the Arctic Monkeys). Conversely, not selling loads... or not wanting to... doesn't mean you're bad. You've really been dumb, you could have learned a lot about bass playing from some of the guys on this site that you've now alienated.

Dont say arse, thats english, you're american, people will slap your wrist!!! As far as maturity goes, I'm not taking lessons from a guy dissing a composer he doesn't come near to.

Thats exactly my point.

You think someone is good because they are technically good, I think someone is good because they've got feelings put into their music AND are technically good. Another reason why you've not made it.

No contradiction. Your point about the Arctic Monkeys just reinforced mine about talent not being the main commodity on sale in the music business. And, if experience is anything at all to do with knowledge, yes, I know better than you. If you think otherwise, ask yourself this... where has your superior knowledge come from? What source of wisdom are you able to tap that is unobtainable to the rest of us here? Your youth, maybe?

BTW, even referring to GS as a "composer" pretty much discredits anything else that comes out of your pointed little head.

I think most people will agree, REGARDLESS of composing/marketing/feeling/genral awesomeness, of gene, he wasn't all that technically awesome, pretty much competent only.

I really could care less what you think my views on the music industry are.

Talent is not only technical capabilities but also feeling you have for music, composing the lines that will work with the rest of the music. Arctic Monkeys, while they are not technical because still very young, have that talent, and made it big because of it.
