All over the world, there are a lot of people in many occupations who step up to the task of doing the tough jobs and making the tough decisions so you don't have to.

I am not a police officer, but if someone attempts to run me down, I WILL shoot in defense of my life.

ETA: From his response, I'm not sure that morf knows what anti-semetic means.

Absolutely. I have no idea what happened. You won't see me on this thread saying I do. All I know, is that it's a tragedy no matter whose fault it is.

Actually the personal attacks started when he called us all wimps. Israeli self defense = kravmaga, something your buddy up there seems to be into enough to put it in his signature on a bass forum, thus the comment about him being of violent nature.

Quite frankly though, if you think what I said was a personal attack you should read the few racist posts down, that and the bigot, cheeky monkey, anti-israeli/jew, or my fav, ignorant piece of trash with no intelligence...

That said, the POLICE OFFICER was off-duty. A security guard is by no means a police man, its his job to stop thieves yes, to kill them is another matter.

I don't really think that he did. If someone interpretted me taking Brazilian jiu-jitsu as violent I don't think that it would be correct for me to assume that they're being racist or bigotted against Brazilians. I'm not defending what he said about you being a violent person, but to step it up to calling him an anti-semite seems a little bit harsh.

That depends on the laws of the land. An off-duty police officer in Virginia may well have every bit of authority as when on duty. It wouldn't surprise me if he did.

Actually, morf, you should do your research. It has been upheld in Virginia state law that munincipalities are permitted to allow police officers to use their police powers, if needed, while in off-duty employment (such as working as a security guard). Meaning, a security guard who is an off-duty officer has EVERY RIGHT, and even a responsibility, to act as if he was on duty when circumstances dictate it.

He was a security guard, and a policeman. You don't stop being a policeman when your shift ends, at least not here.

And, again, he wasn't killing a thief, he was killing a criminal involved in an active, attempted first-degree murder of a police officer. He didn't shoot someone because they didn't pay their tab. He shot because they were trying to run over him.

Not only did he have the authority to stop them, he had the responsibility to stop them.

That was my personal opinion, not a fact stated after I've read american law. Or am I not allowed to state opinions without being called a racist, jew hating ignorant french cheeky monkey? ;)

Having read the article fully, seems to me that its inconsistent that the boys were trying to run him over. In any case, it also seems relevant that at the time he knew for sure the kids were trying to run him over, he would not have time to pull out his gun and fire 5 shots. We'll see what the judge thinks of that one.

Since the time I have been training in Krav, it's amazing how many people have accused me of being a terrorist in the making and with no Christian values (i'm not trying to this thread in another direction, just stating the facts). It's really stupid, but this is what some morons actually think...

How about giving refuge to a convicted child molester, Roman Polanski. Or, convicted killer Ira Einhorn.
