This is exactly what I am talking about. They miss out on life to document it, all for footage that is 80% going to remain on their cellphone anyway.
I went to an NHL game earlier this year. I ended up sitting near some people more concerned with taking pictures of themselves at the game, eating at the game, drinking at the game, and talking at the game than actually watching the game.

Idk, I don't think taking a pic of a sunset and taking a pic of yourself eating dinner and posting it on fb are the same thing. I think one of them is a real time enactment of what Andy Warhol referred to as "everyone's 15 minutes of fame". It's simple self gratification. Taking a photo of a sunset seems more artistic to me. Maybe I'm a snob like that. Maybe not.
what really blows me away about the technology is watching concertgoers so intent on filming it with a cell that they miss the actual concert
not a lot of people know this, but the selfie was originally a type of wall-mounted storage, used for holding books and other objects.
