Honda Element, hands down. I've been in every single one of the vehicles mentioned here (the "Element wanna-be" Scion xB will fit IN my Element!), and by far, I have more room in my Element than ANY of the vehicles so far mentioned. I was amazed at how LITTLE room I had in the driver's seat in the Tahoe! I felt claustrophobic until I got back in my E.

(For the record, I was shopping for an SUV for my fiancee, and we ended up with the Honda Pilot, just worked better for our needs than anything else, and it's a Honda, so...I KNOW it'll be running for as long as I want it to be. I didn't just buy her an Element because we need to get at least 5 people in one vehicle from time to time, and the E is a 4 seater only. Oh, both the E and Pilot also have better legroom than the Tahoe!)

Sakes alive...this is just scary (me and Gard thinking alike that is ).

I 2nd the Element. INCREDIBLE vehicle. I also own a '04 Z71 Suburban, and minus all the fancy accoutrements, the Element beats it hands down (Simple controls, MT, great 4WD system, huge amounts of room and versatility, reliability, coolness factor). If it wasn't for towing capacity, the occassional need to have our 3 kids, wife, and pull the wakeboard boat, I'd have 2....

Lots of people, yes, but very few when compared to the number of SUVs that aren't used offroad.

There seems to be a vocal group that, for some reason, absolutely hates them out of hand. The only reason I can seem to extract is that they are not pure trucks or something somewhat ridiculous like that.

My wife and I have decided to say good-bye to our trusty 2001 Durango. Because of how tall we both are, an SUV is a must.

Our choices have been narrowed down to a Chevy Tahoe (shudder), or a Toyota Sequoia. I wanted a Ford, but was quickly overruled by the wife. She will drive it WAY more than I will, so I thought it would be a good idea to let her get what she wants.

I'll be hitting all the auto websites for reviews, and service problem history's. I also wanted to check in with my bass bro's and hopefully hear some personal experiences on either. Thanks!!

The Element is a 4-seater, this is the only reason I don't have two. With 4 kids in the family, three of which are regularly with us (#1 daughter is off at college), we need to get 5 in regularly, so the E was out of the question.

If you need to carry more than 4, you won't be able to make the E work. If you can get by with just 4 seats, you're going to love it.

It is the first vehicle that actually made me think for just a moment about trading in my Element. Honda does it again - takes a basic idea everyone else is doing and totally turns it upside down, and in doing so outdoes everyone else. Brilliant vehicle. The "haters" are just having trouble with a) the very DIFFERENT appearance, and b) the fact that it does the mid-sized truck thing better than all the "traditional" truck guys ever WILL. This is what Chevy was TRYING to achieve with the Avalanche and failed miserably at, a truck with car-like seating and comfort.

...I'd better shut up now, or I will be trading the Element in!

If you haven't been "hands on" you really don't know, trust me. No, it's not "revolutionary", just very "evolutionary", just like I said, they took a good concept (pickup truck that is really functional as a daily driver) and actually made it WORK. No one else has.

FYI, my initial reaction to the car I now drive was "WHAT THE **** WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!". I genuinely thought the Element was the biggest design blunder in history for the first 6 months. Then, I drove one. Game over.

My sister started crackin' on me on the phone about me driving the ugliest car in history. A few months later, she was visiting, started to do it in person. My reaction was to quietly hand her the key. Two months later she had one too...

I've driven both Element and Ridgeline and i still think they are pretty ugly.

Then again I didn’t like them too much, i am a person who likes to feel the road when driving, that way i have more control and knowledge of what is going on. I am not big fan of new cars where you can’t hear if engine is on or off. Reason I guess for me driving a older Jeep. For each their own but I just don't understand how some people drive with out caring for driving. I also don't understand why anyone would want a SUV that is not a SUV (Ridgeline is NOT a truck, its a SUV with no roof in the back, bed in that thing is too small to consider to be a "truck". ). Again to each their own I guess.

PS I got another car that I consider to be "uglier then element"
