Serek Owners/Fan Club

It’s sold…

Jake just did an IG post saying it was an April Fool’s joke, but like @MingusBass said, he showed us materials for this at the shop. This is real, right?

This has been a good April Fool’s Day. The JHS Pedals one had me fooled because it plays on EXACTLY the kind of details we obsess over as gear nerds. Even though it is non-Serek (& non-bass) related, it’s too good to pass up:

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

The CVS and Walgreens brand comparison is my favorite part.

Glad Ace was the best battery, that’s where I shop!

The John Mayer battery should have been the “tell” for me, but I bought it all! JHS is based here in KC & I keep hoping to run into him around town.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the black tape on that battery may have been a Klon Centaur reference as I think the builder “gooped” the guts of pedal to keep it from being cloned.

I would like to point out that the Lincoln L3 remains unsold whilst the Lisa Frank bass is gone…

It’s a bizarre world.
Right?! I have seen a number of people online lamenting how hard these are to find. I think vintage prices are lower than what Jake’s asking. That said, you are getting a bass that is vintage in tone & look, but made better with better parts.

My incoming Armitage is essentially a P-Bass, but with improvements, i.e. Serek craftsmanship, that make it superior to an American Fender. (IMHO, of course) Don’t mind it costing more because the only thing I’ll ever neede to change on it are the strings.

EDIT: I love vintage sound & styling with modern build quality. I’m totally cool with reissues & we live at a time where we can have the best of both worlds!

I have a sweet MW in shoreline gold with a t-bird pickup in it. Can someone tell me the main difference I would notice in sound/tone by swapping the t-bird for the LZN-B90? I've never played a t-bird loaded bass before and I'm not finding the sound I want out of the MW, unfortunately. Trying to decide between the pickup swap versus just selling the bass and trying something else. Note that I'm primarily a P bass guy, so that's my point of reference.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

You may want to watch this video:

Although this particular Gibson EB-pickup is not a Thunderbird humbucker, you may get a general idea anyway.

Are you EQing it like you do your P basses? Thunderbird pickups need a much different EQ than P pickups to sound their best IME. Not trying to insinuate that you are dumb. I have just noticed over the years people EQing their Gibsons/Gibson style pickups the way they would a Fender, and it's not the right move.

edit: left out the word "people"
