Seriously! How do you guys manage having sooo many basses?!

Right tool for the job... I have 6 total. 2 Ps, 2 Js, 2 Humbuckers. 1 of each is a nice bass that is for legit gigs and recording worthy. 1 of each are banger versions of my nice ones that I use as back ups at gigs, or the main bass for jams/inclement weather/ sketchy bar/etc... I do have 1 vintage case queen, shes the exception that I like to just get out and just jam or record with.

I have 10. I love them all — each brings out a different aspect in my playing, and helps me interact with the music from a slightly different but perceptible perspective.

I think it's cool there's cats who can do it all with 1 or 2; and there are cats who need a whole stable of tools with which to work their muse.

Everybody has their own thing.

I am up to 80 myself, I like the variety and different sounds I can get, I was up to over a hundred but a few years ago I started to downsize and still am.

I have 4, each a different scale length and pickup configuration, and four guitars, OM acoustic, a p90 LP Jr, semi hollow with PAFs, and a Telecaster. They all get played depend on the tone I want at that time.

I bought inexpensively, and any future GAS is relieved for free... It's a good deal.

If I want a fretless, I go find the case.

I don't have scores at any given time (12 currently), but I definitely have (and do) appreciate every one of them. One just does. Each has its own sound, feel, story, purpose...

I'm at twelve too. In three different rooms, depending on where I can play without disturbing the others. Rotate through them pretty regularly. I actually like learning a song on one, then playing it on some of the others as I'm dialing it in. Just my way of having fun I guess.

Appreciate them by rotating them during use at that "old habit" known as "gigging".
Took 4 to the last gig Friday and played them all at different points depending on which one fit the song(s) the best.

I think I have an excessively large spleen.

I have a very large property tax bill that comes due twice a year.

I'm single.

I'm married. Paying my property taxes instead of buying basses increases my chances of staying that way.

I sold a few and now down to 20...I play them all and rotate them around for gigs, rehearsals, etc. I am thinking of selling a few more so I can buy another motorcycle though.

i don't know that i'm "doing it!" i have six axes assembled, no gigs, no rehearsals, and limited recording potential at present. i can't rotate the six i have with any respect to the axes or myself!

but: i'm sure there will come a day.... i'm keeping the faith!

I usually have 2 at most. More then that I just dont need or want.

I manage by only having one bass. After a relatively short journey involving going through 7 instruments, including having a total of 3 instruments at one time, I tried a fretless precision bass, which is now my only bass. I'm very happy having one bass, as I can dedicate my time to one instrument that is a perfect fit for me.

If you feel guilty or ungrateful take the time necessary to rotate between them giving each one the attention they deserve.

I have racks that hold multiple bases/guitars and single stands for the one's getting the attention that week. And I do play them all.
