Seriously, is there anything a Precision Bass Can't do?

Is there anything a Precision Bass can't do? I think that depends on which point we consider that Precision Bass not really a Precision Bass. I'm thinking of all the mods, as well as factory variations, and versions from various non-Fender vendors...

But think if we are being very strict in interpretation (aka only one Precision pickup, etc...) then my answer (paraphrasing) is pretty much any bass can play a lot of music, and this ability isn't limited to just Precision basses.

But if you want to talk up Precision basses just because you like them, more power to ya.

I agree with you 100%, to the player it's all personal preference. ;)

And yes, I will knock it off with all of these Precision Bass threads I've started.....:hiding:

I think any bass can do anything, it really depend on what you want to sound like and what option is important to you.

Like a P isn't for me, like many vintage style bass because they don't have enough frets or I can't have it in the number of string I want etc.

Well, in answer to the OP, there are countless things this can do...

that a P bass can't.

go from passive to active
tweak the mids in a gazillion ways
boost and cut the treble and bass
have a choice of I don't even know how many pickup settings each of which gives an entirely different tone
have multiple places to rest your thumb if you choose
get an incredible variety of sounds without having to change your playing technique
exponenentially increase the amount of those tones if you DO change your playing technique
and plenty more

there's actually lots you can't do with t a P that you can do with many other basses. c'mon. we all know this. :)
