Severely Underwhelmed by New Bass

What don't you like about it? I would not impulsively get rid of it right away unless I could trade back. Give it a minute. Impulsivity is not good...
Agree with this 100%. I think for me it's the fact that it has jazz pickups. Interestingly, Geddy Lee's jazz bass tone is one of my favorite tones of all time, but I've always preferred a fatter sounding instrument to be in my hands. Stingrays and P basses seem to be the right instruments for me. I've considered changing the pickups to Fralins for more low end.
Thinking about Fralins. Funny enough, it was great in the store through a fender rumble. It seems to have lost its tone through my Ampeg BA210.
If you liked it with a different amp, I would get a different amp or maybe an EQ pedal or preamp before I got rid of it. But I would play around with it more before another purchase. Very likely you are setting it how you think you would like it instead of how it needs to be.
Yes. Many dream basses became shattered dreams.
If you’re already disappointed with it now, you’d better part with it.
Maybe change to your favorite string. My new flavor is the GHS Pressurewounds. I keep others fitted with rounds, flats and tapes as well , but these are my current crush.
I think I know what I'll be doing tomorrow. I think a solid full day of fiddling with eq will tell me what I need to know. Ill remain hopeful, but I'm honestly thinking that as much as I thought I was, I may not be a jazz pickup man.
Im thinking that may be the best option at this point. I'm so happy with my Ray, and it's just immediate frustration when I pick up the jag. Im gonna mess around with it all day tomorrow, and if I still don't like it, a new tube amp will be on its way to me very soon.
I have a BA112 and still own 2 out of 3 jaguar basses. They all sound different. Probably because of strings but also because some of them have the bridge pickup placed differently. I don’t even bother with the preamp. I use them like regular jazzes. Take out the battery and try flipping the lower bout switches until you get the fattest sound possible and see if amp adjustments can improve from there.
I suspected that they may not be for me when I started using my VM Squier Jazz in a band setting. Annoying and clacky, and zero low end. Ill slap some ernie balls on it tomorrow and give it one more go.

LOL...I thought the exact same thing.
I would use at performance volume in a full band setting before your next move. Just my $0.02
New Strings is number one and number two is something much better than the BA 210. For me, I hated that thing. Not loud enough, could not handle much low end and so on. I may be talking of a different version of it (the wedge version), but still, go back to GC and try it on better gear. How comfortable is it to play? Are you fighting it?
It happen sometimes with dream basses.
I bought a Warwick Thumb 6 BO. My dream bass. I love the look of that bass. But the tone, I can't make it works, I thought that the lack of mid control was part of the problem and so I changed the preamp. It helped but still, the tone just didn't work, I got drowned by everything else unless I slap which is poopie. I did consider changing the pickup but sinking more money into this was very meh... meanwhile I got an EBMM that did revolutionize my stuff, those basses sound so good and so easy to mix unlike the Warwick.
So I try to sell it.
