Love DiMarzio P for hot output and punch, SD SPB-1 for natural sound, SD Antiquity II for overall tone and bass, Aguilar AG-4P60 for warmth and overall balance.

I know that SD says that about the QP but to my ears it's not really that different to other P pickups other than than being rather hot. Lowering the pickup takes care of that if it's too much.

I dunno about the dislikes listed here for the SPB-3 QP.
The tone control (which adds treble and mids) can take care of the lack of mid-range some posters complain about.
I just want that fat, flatwound sound P Basses are famous for and don't need a whole lot of mid-range treble. But if I did, it's still there.

I just replace the Lakland/Hansen Neo-punch pups in my Lakland Duck Dunn and it really open up the tone. I recorded the Neopunch before the swap and the QP after and compared the tones. The Neopunch pups are a very vintage lower output and darker than the Duncan QP's. Contrary to what was said in previous posts, I did not loose mids. Rolling off the tone with the QP's I am still able to get the darker vintage tone. The entire QP sounds fuller, thick lows, smooth mids and and crisp highs.

Just a couple of weeks ago I put in a set of QP in my P and I hate them! to boomy no woody mids that to me make the sound of a P bass.I couldn't return them to GC,but if you call Seymour Duncan tell them your not happy you can send them to them & they will send you a different model of the same pickup so good buy spb-3 and hello spb-4 I'll have it this Fri they are described as a hot vintage tone.
