Can someone listen to the sound clip I posted (with headphone) and tell me if your are that noisy ?

Also, got a reply from SD concerning the attack settings :

Frederic,

I have confirmed that there were no internal changes to the circuit of the pedal - we only changed the housing of the pedal.

Please can you confirm that there are no internal changes, because the attacke was 8 to 27mS, and it is written 0mS to 10mS on the pedal pictured...

On my sound clip :
- the first group of notes is Comp Off, second group Comp ON, OFF, ON...
- there is a distortion sound over the played note, no clipping anywhere, same thing with another bass or signal chain. I don't remember hearing it before, I just wanted to know if yours also have that strange distortion...

OK, I had a chance to check out your sound file.

Yep, I hear what your talking about, it seems really subtle, but it's there...And nope neither of mine do that at all.

My settings are:

Blend 1:00
Attack 8:00
Level 12:00
Comp 11:00
Switch in "Low" position

I tested and mine has that artefact with SQ jazz CV 70s. Heard it when I dig in on G string. So its not simple overloading(guess) nor fret/pickup click. Seems more like it is passing a strong transient and part of the circuit either clips or it simply sounds like a distortion because of the cut happening when the compression kicks in(hard knee?).
Really weird to have a device like this underperform in a simplest way.
This was on 9-12V. Will test on 18V.

That's weird. I've never had anything like that happen and I really dig in sometimes. Faulty unit?

Edit: and I've only ever used it @ 9V.

Sorry for you bud glad to hear i'm not alone... Mine is currently heading to SD for a checkup/repair, but to be honest I don't know If they will do anything. I wonder if the Keely (based one a similar chip) do the same thing...

Higher spec in something marginal (forgot what it was, sorry) the rest is same.
@Uziel please update us when it comes back.

I think you need to hit it with a really high transient to get this effect. Need to bust out the rest of the guitars and test it.

@ToS I'll let you know is soon as I got it back... In the meantime, you should get it touch with SD to tell them you have the same problem. Maybe something wen't wrong with one of their pedal batch...

Btw, It does that distortion noise with two different basses, (an old Japanese ATK 305 and my Spector Euro6 LX with EMG & BAZ preamp (normal output level))

SOOO,

Got the pedal back... they said it was OK and didn't do anything to it.
I grab my Spector Euro6 (with two EMGs DC, 9V), same distortion problem.
With my old ATK, it only happens if I boost the Bass a bit (let's say half of the boost).

I guess i'm clipping the "input" of the pedal. I run it at 9V, I know it can handle 18v but have no way to try on hand :( I asked SD if 18v add headroon or do nothing, waiting for their reply...
