I agree 2 beautiful instruments. Is that the original bridge on your EB3? Looks nothing like my '69 EB3.

Looks like they've killed the "Les Paul Junior Tribute DC Bass", which was supposed to be a loose recreation of (well, tribute to) the early, pre-SG-shaped, EB-0. Too bad, that looked like a pretty cool bass at a reasonable price. I was a bit curious about trying one out. Though I'm suspicious of Gibson's modern bass pickups, it looked like it could be replace by a Thunderbird-style pickup such as a "Thunderbucker Ranch" one.

Gibson's got to stick with these designs and let them gain a following - it can take years for some of us to finally pull the trigger

Since it is the time of the season I have at no cost to the first to PM me a small device designed for the 3 point Gibson bass bridge, called a Mod-Bar. This ingenious device is made to keep the silk wrappings on strings, off of the saddles and nut. I used it successfully on my SG Standard Bass. I hate to see it just sitting around and I can use the room. Please see pics. First PM first servered. No cost and no shipping. Just a private message is the only charge.

My 2005 SG Reissue (rosewood fretboard) and 2007 SG Reissue (ebony fretboard) both received the Supertone Bridge upgrade. Definitely a better bridge for the adjustments I wanted to make. My 2007 is my main go to bass. The 2005 got the Damarzio pickup upgrade and felt it really wasn't enough of a difference to swap out the other basses pickup. Both sound great but I seem to favor the stock neck pickup in the 2007. Could be the ebony vs rosewood debate. Not sure. So it stays in it's stock glory. Love the SG Basses. Even those old ones called EB0.....neck dive on the two reissues does not exist. Maybe the bridge leveled em out.....IDK....

I would throw a 2 point Supertone on my '69 EB3 ina second but I made a promise to return it to original with '69 NOS at the very least. It right now was modified in 1972 with a Dimarzio Model 1 which came out that year. Also the original owner did wiring modifications to the Model 1 and added 2 micro switches. So I have a bit of work to do.

I'm not usually a silverburst guy, but that bass is definitely an exception to the rule. Absolute beauty.

Because it seems to face "backwards" compared to the 3-point, it imo eliminates the aesthetics issue of the 3-point SuperTone that we've been talking about, so...bonus!

I put a Hipshot on mine, and what a revelation. It feels firmer and even sounds brighter. Not that I hate the stock 3-point, but this time I know it's for real. Be careful though if you have recessed studs like mine. You may need to pull them out, apply a bit of wood glue and put them back in. The whole thing is solid as a rock now. :thumbsup:

I assume you mean straight vs front bow and not radiused

it is straighter then the neck on the black one

it is short scale 30" and I put the lightest set of D'addarios I could get

it is a lot more guitar like than I expected and with the neck pickup it still has a lot of low end

The black one has a neck problem because the truss rod no longer adjusts … right now it plays good but I will have to replace the neck eventually
