I appreciate that. I've never been a fan of the Silverburst either...this SG popped up dirt cheap when I went on the hunt for a white one..this one just screamed buy me.....still waiting for that white one though. They come around alot more often than the Silverburst ones. It looks alot nicer in person if that's believable. I had a bass playing friend pop in at a gig last weekend and let him sit in for a tune....he had asked me to put back on the funky sound I had earlier....I pointed to the amp and floor and said....."it's completely dry no trickery involved" he didn't want to give it back...It's all in the pickups being blended for whatever tone Im after...sorry for the rant ....Happy Holidays Talkbass !!!!

Hi guys, please add me to the club.

This is one of my two Epi Eb-0's. I just added an Emg HB pickup. I like the tone so far and will likely add the bridge pickup soon. That is if I'm happy with the tone. Keep you guys updated

Well I did it!
I pulled the trigger on a 1970 Mudbucker for my '69 EB3 restore. It wasn't cheap but it also wasn't through the roof expensive. Yeah I know technically it still won't be a '69 but it will be darned close. If in the mean time I come across one I will be able to sell this on to try and offset the cost.
Now to find a pickguard that hasn't been modified or trashed. I have found 3 and the cheapest is $125. That amount for a pickguard? Sheesh!
So everyone is aware this EB3 was modified in 1972 with a first release of a Dimarzio Model 1. Then rewiring was done and micro toggle switches added to allow the bass to go in and out of phase and go from Parallel to Series in an attempt to gain more tone. All the switches do is cause all sorts of feedback, humm, and hiss. So that will leave 2 extra holes in the current pickguard.
Then on to a Ashtray bridge cover and pickup cover. Why? Because the holes are already there. The prices for the covers are right up there with the pickguard. Looks like I am going to spend in NOS or original parts, more than the original cost of the bass which was $450 back 50 years ago.

Good to hear you're vertical again! I'm with ya on the age thing, got pains in places I didn't even know existed. As for the yellow snow, not too much of that here in sunny SoCal.

I use Paddle head bass necks from Ebay … they are either good or bad right off the bat … they are designed for 4 strings but the good one can take 5 or 8 strings no problem … most of the necks are good … but for that price if you get an occasional bad neck then you just dispose of it and buy another.
