Just as a heads up, the reason there hasn't been any updates on the Ol '69 EB3 is my Luthier is also a RN at the General Hospital here and with all the Covid stuff he has not been able to work on it for over a week now. He is going to start on the pickup replacement tomorrow. As soon as I have any new pictures and updates I will post them.

I just posted in another thread how I hate waiting. I want it and I want it now! But in this instance I will swallow that short coming and practice on my patience. Short version. You are absolutely correct. (Probably drive me to a heart attack which they will probably attribute to Covid).

Here are the most recent update pics. They pretty much explain themselves so my luthier didn't add much text. I believe I left off at the green yuck or as I like to call it "Fret Jam".

The (borrowed) picture above shows that the Ibanez copy's had a different size neck humbucker. And a bigger bridge pickup. I bought that body without electronics, so there wasn't anything to compare. I think the original neck pickup measured something like 12 to 14 k, so more like the Model One.

The original cavity was broadened first to fit in a Cruciannelli toaster humbucker.

Pro's of the Artec: deep mellow bass tone.
Cons: hardly reacts on treble adjusting, just mellow, not very dynamic or clear.

So is this the Artec mudbucker copy in the Ibanez's neck pickup cavity there?

If so, the pole pieces seem to line up right under the strings (though I see two other screws [sans heads] that I can't account for).

Is your bass a short scale?

As far as I know. There was no text with these pictures. I am hoping for more news today. Poor guy (Luthier) he has been run ragged by this Covid thing. So I don't contact him much. Only when he sends explanations.
As soon as anything arrives I will post. Thats a promise.

Yes, that's the Artec in the Ibanez body. The cavity had be enlarged to fit it in.

The other screwholes on the side are from the Crucianelli pickup-ring that was in there before the Artec.

This Ibanez No. 2354B-b (EB-copy) is short scale. The open headstock types are more often long scale.

You just put three daggers in my heart!:laugh: I've been listening to Mountain all day today and turning my Peruvian friends on to them. They never heard of them out here. I feel no one could ever equal Leslie as far as playing with feeling, he even beats some of the original blues guys in my humble opinion.

I have an ancient single 15" 1959 Ampeg Bassamp 835 35 watt tube amp and the big humbuckers sound unbelievable through it, EB-2 and EB-3. They also sound good through old tube Fenders, Bassman or Dual Showman. I don't like them through big amps or SS amps, I like a little tube distortion with them. The EB-2 sounds good through an SVT though, great blues bass. I don't turn them up to the point of a lot of distortion though, if I want that I got an EBS tube overdrive that gets that sound.

You must have more lives than a herd of alley cats then, good sir...:D

Yup he was another great one, I love those old players who used to play straight through the amp and just crank them. Their bass player was really good too, forgot his name. EB-3 player. Andy Frazier.
