Mean. But not grindy like say a fender thru the GK. Even in a brightish amp like the GK the EB don't do bright. Lol. When I played Jazzes and P-Basses, I always had a Way Huge Pork Loin on to darken and fatten the tone. The EB0 needs no such thing.

Oh boy. How's the intonation with that setup ? Are you on dialysis yet since that amount of bass will move one's kidneys around and have them bumping into one another like a yo-yo...
That's pretty much how I feel about a mudbucker. I love the sound I hear in recordings, but I've heard and read so much negative stuff about them over the years that I never got one. But my ears tell me, from recordings anyway, that a mudbucker would be right up my alley.
So, I'm intruiged as ever, but right now I'm enjoying the Novak pickup and still learning it and how it suits my music, etc. that I have no inclination to change it out. Which means - if I did get a mudbucker, I'd have to buy a new bass to put it into (or buy a bass with a mudbucker/sidewinder already in it). But...I already truly have more than enough basses! Not to mention this covid economy is worrisome.
One thought has been to get an Epi EB-0, convert it to fretless and put an old Gibson mudbucker/sidewinder (or a current reproduction thereof) in it. Scratch the nagging fretless itch I've got whilst also getting to check out the pickup. In particular, I thought that was a pretty cool fretless tone in that video I posted here in the Club a couple of months ago - very uprightish in a way.
But, it's hardly essential and I don't feel like spending the money right now. Finally, there's competition for filling the unnecessary last one or two bass slots in my little collection: a Les Paul Jr. DC Tribute (swapping in an old Thunderbird-style pickup), an Am. Perf. Mustang (another possible fretless conversion candidate) and/or a Thunderbird of some sort (traditional pickups in a used Gibby, or maybe an Epi Vintage Pro with rosewood fretboard)
For recording purposes, I use the Sidewinder blended with Bartolini about 80% of the time. Unless one has a specific purpose for a "soloed" Mudbucker - which is maybe 15% for my needs - they should count on blending it with something.
This perspective changes if one is looking for a "doomy gloomy wall of sound"...
I *love* your concept of "unnecessary" basses...
Have several competing for those slots myself...but not anytime soon.
On a different note, Epi VP is a great instrument that you probably won't regret buying. I bought one for my bass-playing-son but it ended up being returned at the beginning of the whole C-19 mess. Definitely on my shopping list, albeit not for myself.

Orville is now strung BEAD with La Bella White Nylon Tapewounds and I'm finally getting to love that bass after almost a year of owning it.
I don't know how different they are from Felix's bass amps, but these Sunns (they same exact kind Jimi got rid of?) don't sound too clean here:
Cool collection. So the middle one is a converted (routed out) EB-0, it seems. The '63 on the far left sports its original black Sidewinder. The Orville on the far right has Jerry Sentell's "Unmudbucker" in the neck position. I was never a fan of DiMarzio Model One, or most of their pickups in general.
Sentell's pickup has a very broad, warm sound. Pretty unique and might not appeal to everyone. Not much dirt there at all, which I like.
I would also say that they go from the grindiest/most aggressive on the left to the cleanest and most polite on the right...
Same here. Though the Model One certainly has its fans, when I was looking for a pickup change from the stock SG bass pickup, I could easily guess that a ceramic DiMarzio wasn't gonna be for me
that's some of Leslie's stash that Al got but Felix may have used a head or two from Les' besides Jimi's cos I've seen a mix of heads on his side. why Jimi wasn't into the Sunn heads IDK, I'd guess the quality of the distortion was the issue, he kept some cabs but wasn't as happy as the Mountain twins were with that set up and went back to his Marshall heads.
I was pretty much in the same boat when I was looking to replace the neck pickup on the Orville. It came down to the choice between Sentell and Novak. I liked the Sentell clips that someone (ctmullins ? I think?) posted in this thread AND it was less expensive so I pulled the trigger on that one.
Fender Rumble V3. I choose between my R100c, R200c and for the big gigs the R500h and two 1*15 Rumble cabs. Gives a really nice old school sound, and the bult in over drive also works really well with the my all original EB3 1966, so I add that sometimes for some grind.

i prefer to play my eb3 & epiphone rivoli through my 1969 kustom k200-B1 head with a 2x15 kustom cab. sounds more vintage than my modern ebs amp
The Ibanez originally didn't have a 30k sidewinder.
The (borrowed) picture above shows that the Ibanez copy's had a different size neck humbucker. And a bigger bridge pickup. I bought that body without electronics, so there wasn't anything to compare. I think the original neck pickup measured something like 12 to 14 k, so more like the Model One.
The original cavity was broadened first to fit in a Cruciannelli toaster humbucker.
Later it was made larger again to fit in the Artec mudbucker.
Pro's of the Artec: deep mellow bass tone.
Cons: hardly reacts on treble adjusting, just mellow, not very dynamic or clear.
Is that one of the famous tuck ' roll head/cabs? I mainly know about them from Creedance.
What color(s) are they?
Another Rumble Stack here! 2 10 Combo on a 1 12 cab. I add a secret ingredient, a hand made Jessup clone of the Sun 2000s preamp complete with Bass Boost switch. I don't go for much overdrive, I expect I will be able lean into the the JB EB0 to make it happen. God I need a gig to let it rip!

I have a V4B with a custom cabinet that I designed sitting in a room 5,000 miles away, waiting for me to retire and finally have it serviced and put it to use again. Sadly, I doubt that an occasion will rise for me to actually put it on the stage again. Even if I were to ever perform live in the future - which is doubtful at best - I'd have to pay someone to take it out of the apartment and bring it back in, since neither my back nor my knees are in condition to deal with heavy gear nowadays...
I hear that. I've given up on some activities that are kinda risky and it does occur to me gigging may become one. Even with a lightweight amp
