No argument from me on that one. A couple of years ago I recorded a song with La Bella Super Steps (SS rounds with exposed core) and while I positively hated how they felt and sounded through the amp, they recorded remarkably well.
Me too but...Roto flats are funny. To *me* they always feel a gauge thicker. My bass-playing-son has 040-100 set - which I believe has been discontinued - on one of his P-Bass clones and it feels just right. OTOH, I set up a '73 4001 for a friend with 45-105 and while the sound was huge I could hear the neck scream until I adjusted it. They felt like IDK...50-115 or something like that. Maybe it's just me...
