I played a newish SG bass again and the stock pickups sounded fantastic. Aggressive cheewy thing. Ballsy.. The midrange is great. Not at all a mudbucker. . Great rock tone straight away though. Call me a modern SG bass neck pickup fan. The bridge sounded great with it to.

EB or not 2 EB. That is not the question. My early '67 with retromods and fruit salad deletes

Needs is a top refin, EzPz. But I'm going to leave it for the next owner, whoever that is.If you bassically like it but it needs some mods, I know a guy.
They are great. I have several of both branded here in both scales. I just put a set on my shorty 8 banger and love'em

I never really looked at Guild Basses before. The bridge is interesting looking too.
I also saw this strange looking Guild Bass on Reverb.
Both solid and hollow versions were made, same as its guitar counterpart
That's B-302. A killer bass IMO. Feels like a Gibson and sounds like a combo of Ric and Jazz Bass.
I own a '76 JS-2 which was Guild's version of EB-3. Lovely instrument, have no pictures of it in the phone that I'm posting from.
It's a Endres he is kind of a hobbyist builder with some serious skills. This is a lightweight one piece Maple body with a Hard V Wenge, Maple and Rosewood neck. The body design is his unique shape. He is a skilled fabricator and cut and Anodized the controls cover and neck plate. I had a TV Jones thunderblade in it but just couldn't get along with it. I just popped in a TV Jones P90 and love it. Meaty with a nice top end.
Awesome 8 string! Beautiful woods and build! When I played out in a band I played an 8 string and I could play that thing 3 sets-no sweat. Now I play about once a week and I broke it out one night to jam and I was done after about 3 songs! I love the Piano like tones of an 8 string. A black B-302 changed my view on what basses could/should sound like some 42 years ago. Until then, I was all about FSOs...
Now, I've owned its crazier-looking-cousin...the X-702. Couldn't handle the neck profile so I sold it, and this is the actual bass seen in an ad posted by the guy who bought it from me.

The M-85 construction is very similar to a Gibson Les Paul guitar but a mahogany cap on mahogany instead of maple/mahogany.
That bridge on the Guild B-301/302 is even worse than a Gibson 3 point. It literally cannot be intonated, I've tried. BUT a Hipshot Gibby two point is an easy mod and looks more at home than it does on an EB IMO.
Here's mine:
Ash body with mahogany neck. Cherry and white ones were mahogany/mahogany. Pickup by DiMarzio for Guild sounds great! Well balanced egonomically and tonally.

Been looking for one of those here in the states for a long time, they're few and far between around here.
