That is great news as I dont replace my strings very often and certainly dont want be discarding $70 strings every few months or whatever. Optimal after one year works out fantastic for me, means I'll probably have them on for about 5 years.:laugh:....:thumbsup:

Your right about the stiffness, try playing a power chord for about 3 minutes and a half out of a 9 minute song. I was getting worried that the GHS strings with that heavy of gauge was going to bring on carpal tunnel syndrome:nailbiting:.

Thanks but no thanks. I'm getting up there in age, just had a knee surgery this past November and will do my absolute best to stay away from such strenuous activities...;)

On a more serious note, I've been playing heavier gauges all of my life - heck my electric guitar is strung with elevens - and I *love* a good thick string, but it should not have to be stiff to the point of one having to fight it like an enraged python...

Oh, I don't have an SG or EB, unfortunately. I just left a comment for someone that I know on here that does, and just posted a pic of a recent purchase of one. The closest I can say about that is I did play on a 1968 EB-3 in a shop about 24 years ago.
