I honestly feel like she may be Jaco's reincarnation, LOL... Not only was she clearly influenced by him a lot and plays with a very similar style, but she even bobs her head similarly and makes some of the same facial expressions when she plays.

It's like Jaco said, "Alright, I'm gonna try this again."

People get silly with this kind of stuff. There's no secret to becoming a virtuoso musician - you have to put in a lot of hard work. Hours and hours of it - for years. I don't tend to envy virtuosic kids because I would not want to have given up what I had as a kid in order to put in the necessary time to become a virtuoso at a young age. Is it impressive? Yep. Desirable? Not to me.

While I find most stuff like that very interesting for a time.. after a while all that virtuosity gets boring to me... Not to take anything away from her playing at all because she is an amazing talent and she seems to have her head on straight.. which is even more important ... That is one reason why I never really cared much for fusion.. To me it is almost like acid jazz..

I won't comment on fusion because I don't know nearly enough about the genre but the same could be said for the shred guitar world. I love that stuff as long as it fits well in the song and it's not non-stop shredding.

One thing to consider is many of these videos are for the sole purpose of demonstrating skill. I have no problem with that. The musicians may be more than capable of playing the traditional role of their instrument in a band setting. When any musician has a video of non-stop technical prowess, I don't think they're trying to make us weep or touch our souls.

Those last few sentences weren't a direct response to Sav'nBass, by the way.

I like her playing because I started out the same way, liking Stanley Clarke and Billy Sheehan and playing a lot of busy parts. I too noticed in one recent vid that she wasn't completely locked in but I'm a big believer in the "Run to your goals and then learn to walk properly" approach. It's less linear and therefore less boring. I would gamble that a guy like Les Claypool learned to run first while someone like Cliff Williams learned to walk and never got to the running part ( Cliff is great at walking though ).

This young lady is tough.. look at some of her other stuff . She uis a technician yes.. but she can also hold down a groove pretty well too... She is the real deal..

It's funny that even after the videos of her more grown up and playing supportively, and still shredding, the dinosaurs still had negative comments. Looks like she turned out more than just fine.

1. I agree that we mortals should not give up merely because the white buffalo surfaces. What if all the kids gave up when Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods or Venus and Serena showed up? There would be no leagues, tours or circuits.
"The world needs ditch diggers too." --even in the musical sense. There is enough room for everybody.

2. Naturally, I am impressed with her AND her sister's chops.
I also love her inner metronome that she periodically facially gives us glimpses of.
She is locked in and has more groove than MANY.

3. What are american kids doing while she sits in her room working hard? Oh well, nevermind them...
She is amazing. I hope she has good folks around her.
