She-Ra's Shed

The Final Update

Ok, so what happened to this thread?

In continuing to always seek new ways to improve, learn better, adapt what I'm doing to be more efficient, I stopped updating this blog. Keeping track of everything with how much I practiced, and breaking everything down on here was fun, but took too long for my liking. I found that I got the same benefit by switching to just keeping a practice journal in a small notebook was a MUCH better way for me to keep notes and track of what I was practicing. I've addressed some things that weren't working and were causing practice fatigue, and in general made the practice process work better for me... and have found huge improvement in my bass playing. My practice time has gone from about three hours a day down to about two hours a day - one of those hours being intense focus on whatever I'm working to improve, and the other being less efficient maintenance mode. This has helped with burnout, with getting tired of the same thing over and over, etc.

I'm still studying with Anthony and will continue to do so for a long time... but I'm also focusing a lot on working through my own bass interests so that I can switch between them and have stuff be ever fresh.

I'm very proud of what I did in this thread. I think it was a great idea, and it really helped me build some great habits. Despite COVID throwing a wrench in things, I've come out the other side much more focused and much more determined.

I just wanted to close the thread out properly, rather than leave it hanging.

Wanted to also thank everyone that's chipped in with words of wisdom, with helpful notes and criticisms that have helped course correct and steer me into playing bass better.

Best of luck to all.

May your bass notes be ever deep and groovin.
