Sheehan Wife Replica bass

For anyone following this project, I have since update the wear on neck and various body wear to closer match the original.

What exactly did you "update" it looked like a dead ringer for the wife before, has Sheehan's since taken on more wear since the pics were taken from before?

That's cool you got it into his hands, pretty cool experience, I'm not real sure (for me anyway) I'd have really wanted him to sign it. Still cool, but now it's definitely different.
Is that the real WIFE you're holding in the video???
Now that is cool, you should have played his too and got that on video. I guess there's always those shoulda coulda woulda moments when these type of situations happen. There's always that one thing you wished you'd have thought of doing.
Seems like an awesome experience regardless, Billy played the relic, and not just played it but played it for you while interacting with you, in a very intimate and personal setting, all while you held two very famous basses.
I'd say I hoped you enjoyed it, but I can already tell it made your day, if not more. Congrats.

Well I was able to photograph the original WIFE bass and see the details that I missed.. I have since made even more authentic improvements.. including vintage pickguard and Schecter MonsterTone Pbass pickups..

Do the "authentic improvements" include making the fretboard position markers slightly larger?

Belated congratulations -- your replica is a masterpiece!

I wonder how much longer Billy could have used that bass after he went with Yamaha. Couldn't have lasted much longer the way he abused it. Hope yours holds up better ;) Great job!

It is a clone of Billy Sheehan's "Wife" bass..

All the stickers were purchased from collectors, so they are the real deal.

John painted all the paint specs on the bass and clear coated the body to protect stickers from peeling and further wear.

the EBO is a 1966 pickup and the P-bass pickups are D.Allen.

( I tested all the major pickup makers and found D.Allen to be closest to vintage tone while still having pissed-off midrange and clarity. PERFECT pickup IMHO )

Bluesman will have more info about bass on his home page in a few weeks.

The Bass will makes its debut at the Dallas International Guitar Convention April 20-21st, 2012.

John still has some aging to finish, but I couldn't wait to show it off.
