SHELDON DINGWALL is building MY DREAM BASS

Here's another new Z that's just been completed:

Yowza.
Never knew Green could go so well with Blue. Dingwall really likes to experiment, doesn't he?
Or maybe he has every minute detail and color combination already calculated in his head... :hiding:

Well, if you like the green/blue burst, you should check out Pedullas as well. This color combination has been a favourite of Mike Pedulla for years, and is quite frequent on his Buzz-series basses(although I haven't seen any Pedullas with a diagonal burst like this one..).

Sheldon is the man, IMHO(a lot of "Humble Opinions" around here BTW).

Dang, thanks for the heads-up! Just did a search on talkbass and found some pretty nifty green+blue pedullas.
I know what painjob I'm getting for my bass now. :p

p.s.
sorry for derailing the thread!

Thanks Man! I'm very excited about it...I also feel very blessed to have this instrument built and to have such a great artist and luthier agree to build it. In the end, even though the bass will be 'paid in full', I will still owe a great debt of gratitude to all the people at the Dingwall shop.

Man, that is hella sweet! Truly, one of my favorite finish jobs on any bass. Just... Wow!!!

IRL, i believe the 'blue' is a blue green. The cool thing about this one, that if you look carefully around the edge of the body you'll see that it's also got an 'edgeburst' happening:

And yes...I think Sheldon DOES spend a lot of time thinking about color combos and other features...I think there are a lot of conversations with customers where he begins with "The other night I was thinking..."

Wow... If that thing plays anything like the AB1 Bowlus has been dragging around.... Well I have no doubt you will be keeping this one. I just wish I had the chance to play it through that monster Reeves....

Actually, that was my SJ4 that you played. ;)

But, I just got my AB proto 4-string back from having the new bridge pickup installed, and it was just a punchin' and a growlin' at band practice last night. :bassist: :bassist: :bassist:

I hear you Tom. We practiced last night too. For me it was ABI->LMII->HT115, and its was really cookin'. Running Series and rippin' through a bunch of roots, dub and dancehall. I'll be interested to hear the new Mach II as I have FD-3v.1 in my AB. They're amazing sounding basses. The fact that I can play Sly & Robbie style grooves or Roots/Radics feel stuff and keep it tight and clean even with some 40hz boost is awesome!

Now here's the best part...There's no entrance exam. You don't have to prove you're a great player to get one of these basses! All you have to do is email or call...and it turns out that they're happy to make you one, even if your track-record of practice time isn't as stellar as one might wish!

;)

Hee Hee,

Your playing may not have to be stellar, but your bank account better be!!:crying::bawl::atoz:;)

My playing is substantially better than my bank account, which unfortunately isn't saying much. That's why my Sheldon pieces have been acquired through the used market!

So with the Z's rolling off the line, yours should be very very soon. From the finish alone, I think this will be one of the most unique Dingwalls to date.

I'm hoping by the end of October...but I won't be doing any guessing. What with all the other Z's coming off the line, Sheldon's got his hands full!

...not to mention that the Combustion is soon to be released too...so that must be taking up a lot of his attention.

I'm very lucky that Sheldon's done such cool things for my bass. I'm consistently blown away with how cool it is and I really can't believe it's mine. It's a dream come true!
