Has anyone come across Shine before like me? I played one and thought it was excellent for the money (SB-56). Thoughts on Shine?

Shine bass guitars

i had a shine as my first bass. really good for the money. quite nice sounding thing and it played rather well. it had quite a thick neck though if i remember rightly.
i sold it and now regret it as the person i sold it to completely gutted the thing for some reason, i think he tried to put the pre-amp in a guitar. i might try and get it off him and turn it into a project bass.

Okay - most of the good ones are made in the same factory as Epiphones, Peavey's etc.
They are very well made. I have had a couple of the neck through ones. Good basses for a fraction of the price of the real deal. the only thing letting them down is the through body stringing. You cannot string them on the body. If you buy an 8 string, you have to get strings with small ball ends as the large ones won't go through the ferrules

I've only ever seen a Shine Telecaster, but that was in a shop that also has SX guitars, so I'll bet there is some kind of relationship.
It's possible they're made by SX. SX are sold and rebadged by all kinds of companies (Jim Deacon in the UK, for example).
i found one company that is starting to import them. Guitar East sounds like it won't be long before they make it across the pond and into other stores though. although, i suspect there is "some" connection with Rondo... at least a little..... i would think either way (Rondo or Shine) you'll end up with about the same bass depending on the model of course. the WWB846 picture i posted sure looks like the Rondo WEB846, (hmmm almost same model number 
) just different badging and slightly different knob layout.
oh and i found them anywhere from $215-$280 US.
