Shipping Damage: Lost For Words

I am in talks with Reverb. This thread is for informational purposes. Sometimes ppl ask “How is it selling on Reverb?” Or “Should I purchase the Reverb insurance?”. This can help those ppl decide. I’m not expecting TB to solve my issue. I’m glad you had a great 30 sells on Reverb. I’m had about 20 great transactions on Reverb also. I’m not dogging Reverb. Just used them again 2 days ago.
Great

i appreciate your updates. a substantial chunk of my income comes from selling on reverb so having an idea of how these things get resolved before I'm in the thick of it is valuable information to me

I could definitely see tuning the guitar and playing it even if I was returning it for damage.

I got a guitar mailed to me by mistake and I played it before sending it back. It was rather expensive and I probably would never try one out otherwise. I've also had a guitar that I ended up returning because of an impossible to read serial number and missing electronics cover--before I returned it, I tried it out. In both cases it helped guide future purchases.

My point is playing a cosmetically damaged instrument you plan to send back is not nefarious. As a buyer, getting an order with damage or an unsolvable issue is a huge let down. Often you are looking for an instrument for weeks or months, find one you like, consider buying it for days or weeks, then wait for a week for shipping, only to have to return it.

Good to see that other jerk got banned. I hope I never sell a bass to him on principle alone. This is a community to share experiences and knowledge.
Missed it all but the one post but yeah, I was gonna say, sometimes people forget that these forums are supposed to be for discussion. If you're going to give someone a hard time for discussing stuff, I question why you are here.

If it's the user I think it was he chased off a potential new member on the Chowny thread for trying to find out if others had had any of the same issues he was having. He came over at the recommendation from some of us on SBL, which is a far smaller community with far less vendor involvement, to see if he could get some clarification. Instead he got hamfist suggesting he was a troll of some sort because he was new. Anyway a class act that one.

Here are better pictures of the damage.

So the estimate to repair body and refinish is approx. $525. I sent it to Reverb and am waiting on a response.

Definitely awaiting their reply. If they don’t make good on their responsibilities then it’ll definitely affect whether I sell gear through them (if the required insurance doesn’t pay to repair the instrument properly).
