Actually, Warriors don't seem to be on any "darling" lists these days, so if you see one pop up, it's usually for a pretty good deal. They don't sell fast.
This is true. My '99 Warrior Studio Plus 5 was used when I got it in 2002. (it was originally owned by Andrew Gouche) I got it for $1,425 on ebay. Great deal. I also got an '01 Warrior soldier for $625 a few years later. I made money when I sold the Soldier 2 years later and bought my SR5.

Nice review! I'm really glad you're enjoying that bass. I was a little worried when I shipped it to you, because as you said Warriors aren't a fan favorite. Seems like it's a lot more than you expected, so I'm definitely happy about that.
I'm glad you took the time to figure out the wiring issue, because it has a great tone, but the output was outta this world hot. I just thought that's how they intended it to be. You're much more patient that I am!
Those black knobs look MUCH better too!
On a side note, you should check out a Roscoe with Nordstrands in it if you get a chance. Huge improvement tonally. I wanted to like Roscoe basses for a long time, but the old Bart/Bart setup was just too muddy for my taste. The Nordstrands have really opened things up in a good way.

Yeah, it really was a nice surprise. Thing is, even if It'd been pretty much what I was expecting, it was still a totally fair deal, so no worries were necessary, but yeah, worked out particularly well for me after all. Thanks again for being so great to deal with!
Nah, I knew better than to think that was normal, just with that little wire network of theirs, which I'd never seen before since it's unique to them, was hard to figure out.

Thanks... played it again this past Saturday at one of the "brutal" clubs (set up right in front of a huge mirror, massive hum/ground problems.) It ruled. Wow. This bass is quickly reaching "regular bring" status with me, and that's a TOUGH status to get to with as spoiled as I am for gear.

Been watching some of the youtube clips of Adam playing his 6 string Warrior tho, which is a dual soap and nothing like this bass wood-wise, and of course it sounds awesome, but it's also him playing it.
All I know is, this particular config works very very well for me and my style.

If you find one on the used market, it'll probably sell "relatively" cheap, but it'll also be fairly hard to find I think. This one is the only one I've ever seen like it. It was a NAMM bass that Juan at Bass and Beyond originally had. One guy bought this one and another (tho different) Warrior (I think that real pretty dual soap spalted one here in TB), then sold this one to lsu921, who sold it to me. I even still have the pics from their web site. However, that said, I would be willing to bet that their "standard" model with the X55/Soap config would do very similarly, so if you find a deal on the used market for one of those, I'd highly recommend you seriously consider it (or at least check it out if possible).
yeah, there are two warriors at my local GC with that configuration with different woods...there was a pretty sweet neck through 6 stirng with a mahogany neck that was pretty cool, too, but overpriced, IMO...
I have an idea. They have a return policy, right? Take one to a gig and lemme know what you think. Then return it and say, yeah, cool bass, but only worth (xxxx), and if they take it, cool, if not, at least you got to see if it would do for you what mine does for me.

yeah, i'm thinking of doing that with the skjold CS5 they've got there...it's been hanging up for over a year and it still sits because no one knows what a skjold is about...the market here in memphis is for sub-$1K fender precisions and jazz basses...lakland is taking off here, too...i think that the skjold and warriors (a couple of moduli hanging around, too) are from the pretty small, but tight knit gospel crowd in the area
regarding the skjold, tommy ( the bass guy and assistant manager) said that he would probably sell it given the right offer...something for your gas, there, bro
I don't think I posted this earlier, but I do have one (albeit very minor) niggle with the bass...
The body is fairly small, but those pickups are actually fairly large in general... even for a 5 string 19mm bass. What this means is, on the back side, they "invade" both the battery and elex compartments. This matters mainly because it means you can't run the preamp in 18V mode unless you stuff the second battery in the elex compartment, since you can't put it in the actual battery compartment. It would be possible, but not real pretty. I'm thinking this might be a reason this is the only one like it... if it is anyway. That's a bit of a design snafu... especially since it is a dual battery route.
The reason it doesn't bother me is because running these preamps in 18V mode is specifically for adding dynamic headroom, not overall gain, and this bass has PLENTY of that already somehow (maybe these particular pickups?). On a side note, my Skjold is also only a 9V system and it's got the best dynamic range of any bass I've ever played (tho not a bart system).
I'm thinking the X55/Soap model might not have this issue, as well, but if that bass didn't sound as good as one like this, I'd of course choose tone first.

the small body is one of the reason i really dig the warriors so much...i'm 5'7" and you've seen how ridiculous i look with that big mtd i just got too bad about the electronics and battery compartments...it's something i believe i could live with, too

FYI, just got off the phone with Warrior (for something unrelated), and I did find out the one I have is one of only a few made with its pickup config, so finding one on the used market exactly like mine might be pretty tough, BUT, I also spoke to them about the X55D-B/MM model (yeah, that soap is actually an MM style pickup under the hood), which they've made a lot more of, and that one should definitely be on the eval list for anyone looking for a deal on one. I know I'm going to keep my eye out.
