Short bassists!!

I was lucky enough to watch some highlights from the Glastonbury Festival over New Year. One of the bands, called Savages, had a really tiny bassist, Ayse Hassan. The band were a sort of punky. Ayse looked to be about as tall as her bass would be, yet somehow she plays the thing!

It had me thinking. Who are other notable bassists who are short in stature? I understand Geddy Lee is quite short, but there must be others!

Geddy Lee is 5' 10", far from short.

Flea on the other hand is 5' 6".
Victor Wooten is like 5' 7"

Many years ago I met Pete Trewavas from Marillion. I'm 6'1 and I TOWERED over him!
Musta been 5'4, 5'5 tops.
Great bass player, and more importantly, one of the nicest people I've ever met.

Yes.

I also spent some time with Victor, and would have to say he's at least a few inches shorter than 5'7"....clearly doesn't effect his awesome talent.

I would guess Eric Bass from Shinedown to be about 5'5". I'm 5'2" and was almost eye to eye with him. Super nice guy!

Yeah, she's very short...Meshell has said that she can't reach the tuners when her Jazz Bass is strapped on...doesn't matter..awesome bass player!

I'm sure I read he was closer to 5' 6'' or so... his Jazz basses do look big on him, but this could be an illusion created by his use of a shorter strap and the fact he holds the bass fairly horizontal.

This means Ronnie was a giant in the small faces!
