The pickup they put in these things is terrible, but for the money, it's not hard to afford a new one. That said, it's all about the feel. She loves hers.

Easy - they're still around in Guitar centers, $799. Go to a GC and if they don't have one, they can probably get you one from another GC. IMO a great value with two Thundertron pickups.

I thought these were all one-time, doorbuster, never-to-be-seen-again deals.

I might have to hock some of my stuff.

Wow! I didn't know that Gretsch were coming out with these! I have been wanting to try out a G2202 for ages but could never find anywhere that stocked them!

Yeah, I'm digging it.

I got mine mail order, but aside from the strings being tuned a 1/2 step low, I don't see how it could have been any better.

Basses are often shipped a 1/2 step low intentionally.

Waterstone Indra is a killer short scale bass. I have two.

Hofner Icon basses are amazing for the money, both the violin and the Club styles.

I'm not much for the Sunburst on the Gretsches... but Yay for options!!


I'm actually really into the trans black-burst w/pearloid guard finish on my G2202.



But, i'll bet the G2220 will be easier to find than the G1222...

I know the GC in Fort Collins, CO has one...saw it last week.

Gretsch eye candy:

Love the look of that Gretsch! Anyone know if they are made in Korea (I assume at the price point) or somewhere else? Also - is th ebridge held in place by the tension of the strings and just rest on top of the body like a mandolin does?

I will not let this great short scale discussion die. I am in the market for at shorty, for blues and rock. I would love some recommandstions on a Squier Jaguar, Gretsch G2220 Junior Jet II or even a Fender Mustang. Can anyone help me out?

I thought the Junior Jet was a blast to play the one time I got to jam on a blues gig with it! I haven't owned one though, and have no experience with the others.

I had both the Gretsch Junior Jet 2210 (single pickup) and the 2220 (double pickup). The pickup on the 2210 is way better. The 2210 has a TV Jones pickup. The 2220 has miscellaneous unknown mini-humbuckers. I strongly suggest you look for a used 2210. Reverb has some on occasion.

The new ones has two pickups,
