Short scale Stingray!

I'm not really getting along with the boost myself. Would be great to wire this like a L1000, put OMG mode in there for series (though might need a different rotary switch). I'm not sure what to do with the push/pull yet if I rewire this.

Just a thought...

The boost was odd to me, right up until I started gigging heavily. My band plays a wide variety of material and after really putting it to use for a while, that boost became almost indispensable to me. When playing Sinatra and Gn'R in the same set, its an awesome feature to have.

I know, volume controls work too, but I like the brainlessness of keeping my volume on 10. I mean 11. Which is pretty much what that boost give us :) .

Hi everyone

does anybody have experience with putting standard scale length stainless steel strings on your Short scale EBMM Stingray?

I love this bass but normally I use rotosounds or DR on my other basses because they last longer and overall I like the tone better

cheers :):bassist:

I have a set of DR High Beams 40-100 regular scale on my EBMM SS Stingray and they are fine

All gone a bit quiet on here, how are you are you getting on with your mods
@daveobieone @AjCalderon ?
Looking forward to pix and more pix !!
My clear pickguard is supposed to be in production now.
Not their fault...I kind-of messed-up. I thought I had paid for it, but the supplier sent a separate invoice to PayPal, which I hadn't seen, and didn't pay until a few weeks later. I've not seen that happen before. Anyway, it's been paid, and hopefully I'll have it by the end of this month.

Hopefully the fit will be good. I'm sloppy with a file. Will post pix when it's here and installed.

Still loving my "Starry Night" SS Stingray! So much so that I'm really considering buying the import Sterling version for use in "questionable" locations, or situations where the bass needs to sit in a hot or cold car all day, or dragging it along when traveling.

It's not a bad import. The neck finish leaves a bit to be desired but frankly the other options for a short scale import don't seem to meet the same high standards of this Sterling. The G&L Fallout might be great as well but it's 50 more dollars, doesn't have the wheel truss, and the body is basswood. Basswood is fine but having mahogany on this import feels good.

I usually play G&Ls, have a 5-er Kiloton and another one (SB-1) from them. This shortie is supposed to be the Kiloton's baby brother. I thought it might have a nice thumpier tone (though not to the P-bass level) and I think the chromes I just got now will make it perfect once I put them on. With rounds it's still a pretty bright sounding bass, not picking up as much of that typical short scale thicker fundamental as I expected.

Don't get me wrong, it's great. I can see why someone would play this short scale as their main one whatever the strings. I'm using it in a small space currently and it works well, hanging up on the wall next to my desk where my kids can paw at it.

I have a USA G&L 2000. a Custom Clement 4 string, a Japanese Ibanez Prestige SR4005, but the cheaper SBMM Stingray shortscale is now my favorite bass

I had some LaBella flats on mine briefly, and they were fine, but I wanted a bit more brightness. I settled on the GHS pressure wounds, and I'm really glad I did.

They are a great compromise between flats and rounds. I have them on a bunch of my bass's now. Their short-scale offering fits the MM perfectly.

My clear pickguard finally arrived.
The good news is, it fit perfectly! The bevels around the screw heads even lined up perfectly.

I've attached a few pics. The LED lighting in my house does some slightly odd things to the pics taken by my Nikon D300 camera, but you will get the idea.
The new PG almost disappears in some light. At other angles, you can clearly see the outline of it. I really wanted the outline to be obvious...sort of a MM signature with the shape of it.

That looks beautiful @daveobieone !

I wouldn't emphasize the outline of that clear pickguard.
The 'signature' of that model is more about the contrast of the whole shape of the pickguard in relation to the body, not so mouch about the outline of it - in that sense you made a decicion to go away from that classic look by making the pickguard transparent; it's a more a thing of its own now - and it looks really great.
