The new PG almost disappears in some light. At other angles, you can clearly see the outline of it. I really wanted the outline to be obvious...sort of a MM signature with the shape of it.
I think it looks incredible.

My clear pickguard finally arrived.
The good news is, it fit perfectly! The bevels around the screw heads even lined up perfectly.
I've attached a few pics. The LED lighting in my house does some slightly odd things to the pics taken by my Nikon D300 camera, but you will get the idea.

Oh I missed your pics the first time..Just saw it and yes the Clear pickguard on the Starry Night looks really, really good...So tempted to get one. I just recently received a Matte Black pickguard for my Starry night from Chandler. Great Stuff!
I hope yours fits as well as my clear one did. Chandler seems to have a really good template for these basses.

To be honest, I hadn't even noticed till you asked.Yes, It fit perfectLooks like the clear on their site is 1/8" thick. Is the clear much thicker than your original?
I've searched through the whole of this thread, and I've tried google searches as well, trying to find out if EBMM ever unveiled their thinking behind choosing to make this SS version passive. My guess is that by doing so you allowed it to find its own character, and not simply be judged as the little brother. Alternatively, adding a 2nd difference gives existing SR owners more reason to buy one. They are passive. Think of the boost as removing the governor..
It's been popular enough and I guess well reviewed enough that they're making a special edition full size Stingray with the same passive electronics. They weren't making many though. It got mentioned in the SBMM short scale thread.I've searched through the whole of this thread, and I've tried google searches as well, trying to find out if EBMM ever unveiled their thinking behind choosing to make this SS version passive. A recent thread includes a side-by-side of a shortie and a regular Stingray. Looking at that, I`d say the same sized head stock. It looks like a bass and not a toy, don`t worry. If I got it right the bodies of these basses are (slightly) smaller than the "regular" Sting Rays -
the necks are the same width though, and the headstocks are the same size, yes?
Just wondering why they didn't scale down the headstocks a bit; would make sense visually / look a bit less "toy like" if they did I think.
They are making around 80 of these BFR Passive Stingray`s.It's been popular enough and I guess well reviewed enough that they're making a special edition full size Stingray with the same passive electronics. They weren't making many though. It got mentioned in the SBMM short scale thread.
That's the one! Had to double check that price wasn't in $US. Looks like it's about $2500 USD.They are making around 80 of these BFR Passive Stingray`s.
I have further questions.
a) did you consider black strings? Not a fan myself but it would kinda make sense here
b) do these people really lay basses like that on the floor at their workshop?
Thanks for the kind comments everyone!
I'm really sorry for the multiple posts of the pics. I don't understand why that happened.
The clear PG isn't for everyone, just like the Starry Night finish isn't for everyone. But they are for me!
I'm considering AJ's black-out treatment for the rest of it. I really like that! Might make the sparkle's jump out even more. I guess there's still no off the shelf source for the control plate?
Dave O.
that’s the floor at my house where the sparkle finish showed up best lol.
Ha!
That sparkle finish is indeed something; I think it was in one video from the NAMM booth where I saw it "in action" for the first time (guy moving around the bass and it made it all come "alive", looked awesome..)
Would love to see it in the flesh, but doubt this will be happening soon with the lockdown and all, plus I think not really a lot of those have made it to Europe..

That looks excellent and now makes it unique to you! It is a difficult finish to photograph,
it never looks as stunning as it looks in the flesh
I have a USA G&L 2000. a Custom Clement 4 string, a Japanese Ibanez Prestige SR4005, but the cheaper SBMM Stingray shortscale is now my favorite bass
I had some LaBella flats on mine briefly, and they were fine, but I wanted a bit more brightness. I settled on the GHS pressure wounds, and I'm really glad I did.
They are a great compromise between flats and rounds. I have them on a bunch of my bass's now. Their short-scale offering fits the MM perfectly.
