I reckon the folks at Fender probably go by the old credo "if it aint broke, dont fix it.
I suppose.
The Model T was a great car and probably didn't need "fixed" but I'm glad that Hank didn't rest on his laurels but continued to innovate.
Should Fender bring back the Prophecy or some other "modern" or "different" bass?
I would rather see a reissue of the Roscoe Beck bass.
Nice . . .Fender had the short-lived Elite Tele series in the 80s which I always thought was cool...

Yeah the Performers intrigue me. But I guess people don't want to see post 60s innovation from Fender.
Classic example of how people don't seem to want new designs from Fender. Every review I've read of the RB has praised it to the skies as a great bass. But it just didn't sell.I would rather see a reissue of the Roscoe Beck bass.
If the Model T still served the needs of many drivers 60 years after its invention, this analogy could work.I suppose.

...it would make an awesome bass.
Maybe a Jazz body but sans pickguard and with same features like knobs/placement, soap-bar-ish pickups, bridge, brown (walnut I think) finish... I'm picturing it and it's beautiful. Hell, it would rock with the Tele body as well.
Why would they do that when you can still buy almost new RBeck basses just about any day you like?
