I don't see anything misleading about it. If you're in the market for a P talk him down cause the bridge cover is on backward and reduces value by 50%

They directly reference Fender and Rickebacker...how is that NOT misleading!? It says "Made by Dillion" but it still references it as a Rickenbacker and doesn't say "clone" or "knockoff" anywhere in the ad. THAT is misleading.

Hmmm...IMHO the seller cleary indicates in the body of the ad that both items are copies. Also shows pictures of logos that are not Rickenbacker or Fender. Hence I am having difficulty understanding why anyone that actually reads the ad would consider it misleading in any way.

I do get that the headline might be a bit misleading, but I doubt anyone would buy the item without reading the body of the ad.

Nowhere in the ad does he state it's a copy. For anyone who doesn't know, it could be a true Rickebacker that is just made by Dillion.

To be fair, most buyers are not as savvy as TB readers. While the problem usually is outright cunterfeits, these are misleading.

Honestly if it wasn't someone who I know knows better it wouldn't bother me. But this guy has been around a while and deals in gear all the time. He knows what he is doing, he is always looking for a sucker. I refuse to do business with him but I know people who do. He is most likely the most flagged person on CL Dallas.

It is misleading but, only if you don't read the actual description closely. He does state that these basses are made by other people. I see what you're saying though. He probably should have added the word "copy" to his title listings. All I can say is buyer beware... or should I say, aware.

Outraged? No, being bemused is probably better for your health. I don't imagine Dallas CL is much different from what I have here, but I'll trade your infamous jerk for a handful of my local boneheads who can't read the headstock (or maybe they only see the little print that says "by Fender?")

Those Dillon basses are supposedly very good.

You can be as outraged as you want, but be aware that stress kills. Key to a long, happy life is to be calm and enjoy the idiots rather than point them out or let them get under your skin.

My mind still reels from creveat cunterfeits further up the thread, but Dillions can be very good basses. My 335-004s both wallpop the Gibson 335 and Midtown offerings at a fraction of the cost. Only knock is the 9.5 pound weight.

Any good flagger would do it w/o making a fuss, and that is what you should do if you feel strongly about it.

A good flagger with something to sell will get all ads similar to theirs flagged, LOL.

The house band at Rick's Durty Harry's in Key West singer had one of those. At least it was a GT, but it was an automatic.

He pulled a lot of tail, since he was:
1) A good looking guy
2) A good singer in a decent band
3) Had stage presence/charisma, and the Spring Breaker chicks wouldn't realize that a guy singing for a house band in Key West Florida couldn't have owned a real Ferrari. And they were so clueless as to what a real one sounded like that when they got in his car and he fired it up they didn't notice. The dash pod and high center console with GM's automatic shifter, Fiero logos on the steering wheel and door panels was also a dead giveaway

Yeah - at the mininum, its misleading; but I'd call it outright fraud. These are not Rickenbacker and Fender instruments. Some states have aggressive consumer protection laws and I'd actually file a complaint with the secretary of state or attorney general's office. I'll give him $500, but I want a real Rickenbacker

There is a photo of the headstock of that Ric copy that clearly says the same brand name mentioned in the ad. What are you worried about? I'd go take a look at it.
