Should I buy A Bongo?

I own a Warwick thumb Nt but I have been thinking about getting a bongo 5 instead. What do you guys think?

you know, I just compared a bongo5 with a wick double buck5 the other day. For me, I fell in love with the double buck waaaaay more than the bongo...but as Chris2112 said.....try it out and go with what sounds good to you.

Yup! All the bongos i've played (bout 3?) have all played like butter and sound super punchy and fat.
If you have any concerns about the looks just play one! It might change your mind, i know it changed mine.

for the record, i chose my bongo over a double buck and a thumb bo. the warwicks were great instruments, but to my ears they were lacking in mids and highs. tons of bottom end, but that was it. and the string spacing was WAAYYY too tight.

Maybe maybe not, I don't like bongos as much as MM's other basses sound wise [not a big fan of the look either but that's neither here nor there], the few I've played didn't impress me much compared to all the hype they get. I'm not a Warwick fan either so I wouldn't get either, but that's just me, a lot of people like both basses. Play as many of each modal of the basses you are looking at then get the one YOU like the sound and playability of.

Seriously, go to GC and try one out. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Make sure you play around with the controls so you can get a feel for the range of tones available.

I love the Warwick tone but hate the neck dive plus weight of it. I tried a Bongo out at GC today And loved it. It sounds very powerful, I did get a lot of tones out of it. I wasent able to put a strap on it to see if it neck dives. Does it neck dive? It is way lighter than the Wick. How does all the other Bongo players like Theres?

Just like a car. If you like it, it suits your needs, and you can afford it, absolutely!!! You shouldn't need a bunch of strangers to convince you otherwise. EB makes a great bass. Good luck

There's just a slight amount of neck dive on the fours and a bit more on the fives but nothing a good strap can't fix. It's not nearly as bad as some Spectors I've tried .

All you Bongoloids do the man a favor and post a link or something that explains the control layout.

I have never been in a shop that any one had a clue as to what did what. Sure I can figure it out by ear eventually but it is great to know what will do what before tweaking it.

As was said try one and if you like it, buy it.

I had a BONGO Stealth 5 for about 3 seconds and sold it - didn't like it at all. The guy I sold it to LOVES it, though. All personal preference. I never got a sound I liked and didn't like the string spacing, although I think it was a 24 fret bass and I *did* like that about it. And the stealth bass looks pretty cool, too. But BLACK is my favorite color.
