Should I buy A Bongo?

Never experienced any neck dive in a Bongo. I think someone may have confused a thumb statement with a Bongo statement.

I sold my Warwick (which I was certain I never would) shortly after buying my first Bongo. Ditto for me on what raz said regarding the Warwicks...

"i chose my bongo over a double buck and a thumb bo. the warwicks were great instruments, but to my ears they were lacking in mids and highs. tons of bottom end, but that was it. and the string spacing was WAAYYY too tight.​

Well I did it, I pulled the trigger. My new Bongo Stealth 5HH will be here on Friday. I bought it from BassCentral, Perry helped me. I am very happy and cant wait. I will post pics when I get it. Thanks to everbody for the help. :D :bassist:

Strap on your bass
Stand up
Take your hands off of your bass
Do the twist, or similar dance of your choice
If the neck is now pointing down at the floor....
Neck-Dive!

(With a Thumb Bass, you can skip step 4)

The HH is a two humbucker model.
The SH is a single coil and a humbucker model ala' Lakland.
The H is just a humbucker model ala' StingRay/Sterling (though from what was said here sounds different).

I went and played a HH 4 at one of my local GC's yesterday. And like I was told, the neck is somewhere between a Sterling and a S'Ray. But more like a Sterling IMO, which is good for me.

Now, my only issues were the front pick-up too close to the neck for slapping/popping, and you guys are right about just the rear pick-up not quite exactly like a S'Ray/Sterling.
It's cleaner and nicer sounding. Not quite as bitchy and raw.

Sorry to get OT with my post BTW, but another question to you EB/MM Bong-oids.
I know the pre-amp is different, but are the pick-ups the same?
If one would get a Bongo 4 and have the pick-up moved into the exact S'Ray position I wonder if it would help it do it's thing, ya dig?

I know I know, them just buy a S'Ray or Sterling!! But I really dig the Bongo's looks and body shape. And hell it's 24 fret!!

Everything about the Bongo pickup construction is different. The Bongo pickups are neodymium magnets, while the SRs still have alnico.

You wouldn't be the first person to move the pickups on a Bongo, so do what works for ya.

I got my Bongo on Friday, and I havent been able to put down since. I love this bass, I am sorry to say I got rid of my Warwick. But this bass is just amazing. I thought I would miss my Wick but I have not even thought about it since I picked up the Bongo. :bassist: :D I am in Love!
