Should I wait to sell my GB SL900?

I just recently sold two Basses and I'm ready to purchase the Gallien Krueger Fusion 550 head that I've been wanting for a long time; Should I just go ahead and buy it now? or wait to sell my Genz Benz Streamliner 900 so I can A/B them to find out which one I REALLY like better? OR, (for all the Fusion 550 owners), Is it GUARANTEED that I'm going to like/love the Fusion 550 better so just go ahead and sell the GB Streamliner 900?

I'd wait. If you miss it, it will be hard to replace. Also, it is always a good idea to have a spare.

If you're not hurting for cash, A/Bing is always better. As an owner of an MB Fusion 500, I suspect that you'll like the GK, but it's very different from the GB sound.

I'd keep both. I plug a bass into one and think I hate it. Then I plug a different bass in the same one and love it. Then I take the bass that I hated in the first one and love it in the other one. Then...I think you get the idea. Plus different band mates have different tastes. I get a tone I like first but if I can get in the area of what my band mates like I try to oblige. 1 band likes my Warwick with the stramliner. Another band likes the gk with a ric. I also have 2 band and 3 band rays. I didn't like the sound of the 2 band ray with the streamliner but it may be my favorite with the fusion.

Of course it's not guaranteed.


If you can swing it, best to compare both.

Keep it. Try em both out. And not just once. If you can. ..try them both out AT either rehearsal or a gig.
If I hadn't have done it with my Tone Hammer 500 I'd've no doubt sold it within the first week of owning it. But I stuck at it and now it's one of my favorite amps of all time.

At one time I had a 9.2 Max and a SL900... I sold the Max and I now have an M800... I think the 900 is a great head. I would keep it and AB them before I sold it.

I have owned the Fusion 550 for 8 years now, it is my goto head. Should you sell your Genz right now, NO. Compare them first then live with the 550 for a while. Our memories are not always factual, if you find you think you miss something about the Genz you can play it again. If it is not there to try, you could be chasing a ghost. Back up heads never hurt and my Fusion stays at the practice room, my other amps are at home for practice or a last minute pickup when I can't get to the practice room to get the Fusion.

I'm at this same crossroad. I've heard so many great things about the Genzler MG800 that I want to sell my STM-900 to fund it. Supposedly the MG800 can do all that the STM-900 can, but alot more. Plys goes down to 2,667 ohms.

IMO it just depends on what tone you like. I've found my GB Streamliner the closest sounding amp to an all tube SVT which is what I like, so it's my go-to when I use a micro amp.

OK I've been trying to sell my STM-900 for about a week now, and not one bite. What would you say is a good asking price? I tried to search what others have sold on here, and feel that my price is more than fair.

If you want the serious overdriven, tube, SVT sound, the MG-800 is probably not the move.
However, if you want some overdrive warmth with a little bite, you may find the Drive channel fits the bill.
