Should people go to prison for filing false rape cases?

I see how you could doubt a woman who said the man who shot her was the one she was still divorcing. But how about the other couple, who had no previous reason to know him at all, let alone already hate him? They both also said "That's him right over there. Cullen Davis. He's the one who shot me." at the trial.

Ask Cornelius Dupree Jr about that. Ask the real victims of the Duke rape case. Who lost their futures due the false hoods that flow from the lips of , well let's not go there.

There no laws protecting these innocent men.

I support both better access to quality council for the accused (both before and after trial) and progressing society to move beyond accepting all accusations as proof of guilt.

All of which was theoretically available to the young Duke boys. At a cost of 15 Million dollars. Yet where do they go to get that back? or their names? Or their futures?

And where does the dead guy go to his life back?

Just asking with all possible respects since your post fails to address these poor men.

Or how about Cornelius Dupree? Where does he go to get 30 years of his life spent in a prison due to the life that spilled out a mouth like water over a dam?

I'm just wondering about those small things that mean so much to people.

I'm a fan of letting a guilty man free rather than jailing an innocent. I'm old fashioned like that.

I don't think any additional jail time is a way of reducing the issues of innocent people being sentenced to jail time. It's a systemic problem that's not limited to rape accusations, but an entire legal system where access to quality council is vastly overpriced and unavailable. Simplify the laws to the point where trials are cheaper and easier and require less expensive experts to be involved.

Fixing decades of poor legal process overnight isn't a viable option.

I agree that our enforcement, sentencing, and prison systems are all in need of reform. My recommendation was actually the inverse of what you'd suggested I had said.

Plenty of men are raped. They just don't get any protection.

Maybe you're right, though the few times it has come up in conversations everyone I've talked to, man or woman, have been equally disgusted by rape stories. I guess we don't have to be as worried walking home in the dark anyway.

One thing that comes to mind is I believe men are worried about rape in one situation and that is when sentenced to a prison term. Maybe it's an exaggerated fear or modern myth to some degree but maybe there is some kind of Karma going on there for rapists.

EDIT: I see prison was already mentioned, I'm really slow editing a post sometimes.

Find me one state in which there are no cases of injustice against an innocent person. Texas does have its problems, but its not like you are just going to come to Texas and get thrown in jail for no reason.
