Should people go to prison for filing false rape cases?

Sorry. I shouldn't have picked on Texas but I do believe it was a response to a post.

I could have found many examples involving other states.

please read my post again, carefully. i do not and would never suggest more rapes of anyone, ever.

my intent was to make a point about what sort of classes or tribes people tend to empathize with, and how their perceptions of themselves affect those empathies. put another way: if the threat level of rape was perceived differently, the sense of what constitutes justice for false reports of rape might also be perceived differently.

i apologize for not being more clear; this format can be confusing at times for sure.

I view myself primarily as a Decepticon, as such, my loyalties lie with Megatron and other red eyed air and military based transforming robots in our quest for Energon cubes.

Looks like we reached full house in Rape Discussion Bingo already.

Lets introduce a new law. Like Poe's Law, or Godwin's Law... lets call it Kohntarkosz's law.

The longer that people discuss rape on the internet, the more likely that a few things will happen. Lets ignore the gross trivialisation of rape occurring here for a minute... these 'certainties' are;

1) Some 'cutting through the bull****' type dudebro will post "Bbbut, guys can get raped too! Nobody talks about that! I have no stats to back up my claim, but I reckon as many guys as gals get raped".

AND

2) Some 'cutting through the bull****' type dudebro will post "False rape allegations happen as frequently as real rape allegations and can ruin a man's life!!! ZOMG think of the men people!!!!".

Every time. The same two arguments, to try and 1) pretend there is an epidemic of false rape claims using a few well noted (and severely dealt with) historic cases and 2) to try and make men appear equally victimised and predated by wiley rapists and thus attempt to invalidate any arguments that point at men being far more likely to rape.

Perhaps it is because this forum is 99% male populated. I see the same weak, half-assed arguments appearing all over the internet from emotionally immature 'proud to be contrarian' dudebros, usually aged between 18 and 35 but sometimes incorporating bitter divorcee fathers into their bile. As soon as I saw the thread title here I knew it would be a crock of **** from the word go. I could also predict the poster names most likely to be spewing this garbage; the same intelectually stunted individuals that appear in every thread in the Off Topic forum making the same few badly worded arguments regardless of the subject matter.

I don't think I've said that you're one of my favorite posters have I? Well you are.

I do think those who leverage false rape charges should be punished by the law but I have not the slightest clue what would be a fair punishment.

Also, I think it is important to note the rarity of false rape charges.

If someone knowingly & maliciously makes a false allegation of rape against someone - the accuser should go to prison for a very, very long time.

People may not feel comfortable with it. But the fact is, people do make false allegations.

Prosecutorial misconduct should be very severely addressed, too.

If a charge is entirely fabricated, I'm pretty sure the prosecutors and people bringing the charges in the first place can already be charged for a number of things including perjury and filing a false report-definitely civil and possibly criminal charges depending on the case. Then they'd have to go through their own trial to judge guilt and levy an appropriate (not equivalent to the previous charges) punishment. That's fair and reasonable judicial policy, it's already in place and already sufficiently addresses the issue of false accusations.

No, I dont think someone should go to prison for filing a false rape claim. I do feel there should be repercussions, but I think prison should be reserved for violent offenders.

But you're are right about that.

It's my opinion jails aren't he best thing. No jail. Permanent exile for a liar that sends anyone to jail. Loose of all rights and identity and a free trip to the nearest border. And three step.

Just my opinion but really fairer than sending a man to jail for thirty years for a crime that never happened.

There's a Commandment in the Bible about "bearing false witness" that covers your concerns if you're worried about accidentally bunking with one of these ladies in the after life.

The rest of your statement feels like an excuse to vent brooding misogyny.
