Should people go to prison for filing false rape cases?

Id hate wasting taxpayer money keeping an innocent person in jail. However, that innocent person was there under the assumption that they were guilty. Having proven not to be the case, said person should be owed thirty years of restitution.

Now, I dont have the solution for how that is handled, but Id think further expense to the taxpayers is likely not the best solution.

It's my opinion jails aren't he best thing. No jail. Permanent exile for a liar that sends anyone to jail. Loose of all rights and identity and a free trip to the nearest border. And three step.

Just my opinion but really fairer than sending a man to jail for thirty years for a crime that never happened.

Im not up to date on exile as punishment, but Id think it likely that another country would not want to adopt our criminals as citizens (or would they?). Said criminal would have to serve the remainder of their life on a boat. And who would pay for the boat?

But less than young Cornelius had. I have money. I can hire a good lawyer.

I am acting out of an altruist drive to make the wold a better place for those less fortunate.

Except that by trying to improve the lives of a small handful of men who've been wrongly accused and already have resources available to defend themselves, you're adding another unnecessary roadblock for women to safely report rape and confront their offender. This is bad for:

1) the rape victim
2) other potential rape victims, seeing as how this is typically a serial crime.

I would rather have more people have fair trials by a jury of their peers than more rapists on the streets because women are afraid of the potential repercussions of accusing someone.

I think someone who falsely claims rape should get some jail time as they are guilty of a crime that could ruin someone's life. It should be more than just a slap on the wrist. Unfortunately arrest records are public record so someone can have their life ruined before there is even a trial.

Perhaps a public caning would be justifiable punishment? :eek:

All silliness and question-dodging aside, I am with hdrobert as usual. The laws are already in place, we can and should prosecute those who knowingly make false rape claims using these laws. There's no need for a new "False rape claim" law, as it would by nature fall under perjury, obstruction of justice, slander, libel, and/or a bunch of others...

The innocence project was mentioned in this thread. They can and do help innocent people get out of jail, using their resources and knowledge of the law. But that has nothing to do with the question in the OP

What resources do these men have? If this is the case why are 90% of the person in jail men? I do not see these resources available for men.

No roadblock I can see. Just run a couple little tests like a poly graph and if there a lie off they go to be punished.

Men are more likely to do the things that anger other men with authority, those men call those things "crimes" and protect their assets and interests. Women rarely engage in such acts because they compete with other women for resources. Since women harming women isn't of great concern historically to men of power, we don't typically consider those acts "crimes" unless they duplicate male acts.

That's why men are in prison at a higher rate than women. Women historically don't count.

I never seen the female race so utterly insulted in my life.

At least that's my opinion on the matter.
