Should people go to prison for filing false rape cases?

I know these girls are just so proud of you menfolk sticking up for them. Apparently you feel they can't do themselves.

So it's great to have a bunch of White Knights showing up on the chargers to rescue the fair maidens.

Im going to go out on a limb and guess that youve been [presumedly falsely] accused of rape.
You seem so adament that anyone who does not share your view must be a misogynist who is lonely and hoping to score with women who accuse men of rape.

No one here is defending said action. Its been told by various people that we already have laws in place to protect the accused in these situations. What more do you want?

Are good people sometimes convicted of crimes that they did not commit? Yes, and thats a shame. How do we as a people make that right? I dont think putting more people in prison is the answer. If you do, please, explain to us how thats going to make everything better...

Seeing the numbers of boys who rode to the rescue here demonstrate just how it's unlikely a fair trial is available to the accused.

I think we need to do away with theses charges. They are ripe for abuse. And like Matt pointed out, Why put more people in jail.

I think youre drawing erroneous conclusions here.
Firstly, who here is "riding to the rescue" of anyone? (I assume in this instance youre referring to the accuser, yes?)
I dont see anyone defending people who make false allegations. I only see [some] people saying that they dont think that should equate to a prison sentence. There are other forms of penalization besides imprisonment.
How does any of that stand in the way of a fair trial to the accused? It doesnt.

What charges need to be done away with? There are only two being discussed in this thread: 1) Charges of rape, and 2) Filing false charges against someone.
Both are crimes, that come along with punishment. Which one do you think needs to be done away with? Which are ripe for abuse?

I dose away with any chance of a fair trial by allow these false "rape: accusers to repeat the crime with impunity.

Jailing em once and for all would solve the problem.

Otherwise it's reasonable doubt. Not Guilty!

Does it really? How? What does away with any chance of a fair trial? Being accused? Being the accuser? Getting raped?
Are your posts purposely ambiguous so that you can just argue any ole point that you want to?

Jailing em once and for all would solve the problem.

All it takes is one false claim to be proven so. The accused can then file a civil suit against the accuser, and would likely cost the accuser a lot of money, no?
You know why we dont hear of that happening too often?

Because most of the alleged victims have no money and no one in their right mind would sue them.

That's why. Chrystal Magnum continued her reign of terror ending with the death of an innocent man.

No one sued her because she spent all her money.

I think that attitude is one of the issues with the US legal system and why the US has the higher incarceration rate on the planet. Throw in privately run prisons and you have a very expensive project which is funded by yourself and other forum members from the US. Though it just goes back to the point I made on page one that, IMO, prison should be reserved for violent offenders.

Here's a story of a woman whose false rape claims landed her 5 years in prison:

Invalid Link Removed

Only 2 of the years were for the false rape claim, the other 3 were for evidence tampering?

Another guy spent 15 years in prison due to the same woman making a previous false claim that was later overturned.
Does Ylen getting 5 years in prison make any of this right? How do you feel paying to keep this woman in prison?
