Should people go to prison for filing false rape cases?

Here's a story of a woman whose false rape claims landed her 5 years in prison:

Invalid Link Removed

Only 2 of the years were for the false rape claim, the other 3 were for evidence tampering?

Another guy spent 15 years in prison due to the same woman making a previous false claim that was later overturned.
Does Ylen getting 5 years in prison make any of this right? How do you feel paying to keep this woman in prison?

Exile would have been free.

How do you feel about keeping the innocent man, one of many, in jail for 15 years?

How much resitution did the false rape accuser make.

But what really I find interesting is that a false rape charge, billions of times worse that any alleged rape, get off lighter that the less serious "crime".

That's the most pathetic garbage I've ever read on this forum. If your posts weren't consistently chock-full of trollish intellectual dishonesty, I might actually be surprised.

But you don't seem to have an issue with an innocent man spending 30 years in the slammer for a crime that never happened.

He's not the only one.

It's my understanding that the Innocence Project is batting 1000 when it comes to freeing innocent men with DNA evidence.

I think it's time to admit the process is flawed and free all the men.

In all fairness, intentionally falsely causing someone to get sent to prison where they in turn get raped is in itself a pretty vile act. I don't think one crime can accurately be judged "better" or "worse" than the other. Apparently BR, does. That's because he's trolling. Please don't feed the troll folks. Or do, if want to. Just seems silly to me.

Okay, you all know that I'm not a fan of anecdotal evidence, but I'm actually going to invoke it here just once to make a point. Now, I am in no way condoning false accusations of rape or saying that it never happens, but if this is such a widespread social problem, how come a bunch of us aren't coming on here giving our stories of how we know so-and-so who was convicted of a rape that he never committed?

I'm hard pressed to think of someone I know in my personal life who has been convicted of rape, let alone falsely convicted of rape.

I know infinite times more victims.

Someone whose lies have forced an innocent man to spend 30 years in jail is a violent offender.

But let see how fair flys.

Since rape is infinitely less of a crime that a false rape charge how about we apply the same logic to that.

No jail. Pay a small restitution and everyone goes home happy.

It seem to be what everyone feels is fair.

In your opinion they are a violent offender, I don't agree with that assertion.

I'm also not getting where you are coming from with claims of rape being "infinitely less of a crime" than a false rape charge, I'm assuming you are trying to make a statement, some form of analogy, instead of stating an opinion?

Rape is a violent crime, a person physically harms another.
Accusations of rape are not a violent crime, a person doesn't physically harm another.

Also, if an innocent person goes to prison on a false accusation (for any crime), isn't the system also at fault to an extent? Should safeguards not be in place by the system to protect the innocent?

And if rape itself were such an issue there would be anecdotal tales abounding.

But there aren't. I think we need to rethink making such a big deal out of this.

*lol*

I can probably think of 10 people in my personal life off the top of my head that have been raped or molested. People don't go around talking about how they've been raped in polite company because there is a lot of shame and social stigma attached to it. Any women's shelter volunteer can tell you that.

I wonder what the volunteer at the Mens Shelter would say?

That's right. There are none.

How odd that is.
