I picked up the cheapest Mexican J I could find. Found a beat up sunburst bass. I put in a Hipshot Kickass Bridge and it dramatically improved everything about the bass. I had all new electronics installed with Dimarzio Ultra Jazz PU’s. I like them, would recommend. Finally, I could not get the neck right, there were some fret issues. I lost my repair guy. I came across some rando bass that had a warmoth neck on it. Bought it and switched out the necks.
It ended up all working out. It is a slamming bass. I think I spent under a grand on this project over a few years.
