Shoulder surgery?

It's very cool. Essentially, they take 60 cc's of your own blood, centrifuge it down to 7 cc's of purified, supercharged white blood cells and platelets, and inject it back into the injured area. The white blood cells and platelets help with healing and rebuilding. I asked my orthopedist about this, as I didn't want to get cut. He told me that I was a good candidate for this, as my tears were small. I go back for another evaluation on May 24.

I have had zero downtime with this. I had elbow surgery back in 2008 that took me out of action for a couple of months. If you are a candidate, you should try this. Insurance does not cover it, but it generally runs between $600 to $800. Not a bad deal to avoid getting cut!

Just be prepared. PRP injections are amongst the most painful. I realize this is way late, but for anyone like me going through the same thing... I was a Navy Corpsman for 27 years and always told my patients how much pain to expect. Easier to handle if ya know going in. I’m waiting for a VA MRI sched for 11/20! Left shoulder constantly aches and sharp pain with certain movements. Looking at a slinger strap to get off my L shoulder! Anyone with other feedback would be appreciated!
