Maybe he just has a really aggressive attack and playing style. Mine is like that too, (probably bad technique even) and I have bad calluses. And my fingers peel too.

Geez....I've been playing for 12 years and all I've got is are two spots on my right middle and ring fingers that are slightly harder (I pluck with those fingers - don't use my index because it's slightly turned and I get too much nail). Nothing that would be photographable.

Gotta say, if my fingers looked like that - I might do something different.

I just played that tune last night with the lightest touch you could imagine. Very little movement, too. Easy.

They're all calloused, and I can play on them for hours. Longest nightly gig was 6 hours nightly , for five days.

Were those pics taken just after you were playing? Or are they always like that?

My fingers look a bit more dramatic straight after a long riffing session... the toughened skin tends to mould itself round the strings...

It just so happens Im an " animated " player. Thats the only way to describe it. You wanna play lighter, thats your buisiness.
Did I mention I also sing the tune, while playing it?

Play out 3x a week for a long time and a weekly practice with the band -- all I have are smooth firm pads on the fingers (sans fingerprints). No callouses.
