Just finished putting this together...

its a simple dog mod metalzone, and its more like a vanilla hard clipper now, not sounding like the beehive you might think. If you have a metalzone hidden in a drawer, try this solderless mod.

some tips regarding metalzone usage on bass

.you need to keep gain among 0 and 2 out of 10 to get a usable sound.
. you need to cut the highs as you most possibly trying to achieve more of a low mid focused sound with a band.
. you need to boost the lows a wee bit as well but not too much, cause it turns boomy.
. then you search the freq you like through mids and parametric mids knobs.Boost or cut at your liking.
. Level at will. you re done.
. Tone get 1000% better as soon as i turn on the Ampeg Clone. Mt-2 loves getting stacked into tubelike tones.

thanks for your reply my brother.

DIY: Boss MT-2 Metal Zone “Simple Dog” No-Solder Mods – Mr. Furious Audio

first picture - solo playing, practicing- home recording and bedroom volume settings
second picture - band rehearsal setting, trying to get pick-like sound that can help me stay away from volume wars with my fellow guitarists : )
Next time I'll have a MT2 available will keep it and try this mod. Thanks!

I don't you an MT-2, but I'm well aware of the rep it has. This video is interesting though. It's guitar focused, but it's a good example of how application/placement is everything...
That video is brilliant. One of the most (if not the most) sold pedal ever (more than a million units). Never owned one but talked and played a while. One of the tricks for guitar was to put a noise gate after as is a hi-gain pedal, designed probably to compete with JCM900, Rectifiers, etc. in a pedal format.
Also, mainstream producers would work with it on bass. Eric Valentine talking about Arion Salazar bass recordings (Third eye blind):

How does the Clone looper compare to the Pigtronix Infinity 2?
I didn’t have the I2 very long, but they’re quite different. As you know, every looper has pros/cons...the I2 more suited to live play, with two loop options (verse/chorus) and trails.

The Clone is more suited for what I want at home...I really like the 4-blinking light count down to the beginning of the loop each time, in case I’m “lost”... Abrupt endings though, unless you hook up a volume pedal to it.

I’m keeping the Clone (just ordered the addition MXR tap stomp button)...the plastic volume knob doubles as a “stomp” button, if you don’t add it. A little easier, more straightforward to use the Clone (vs I2), imo/e.

Both pedals save whatever’s in the loop, when you shut them down.

I'm going to have to try my Timmy w/ a Barbershop/Modele B. I've got a Barbershop on both of the bass boards right now mostly for the sag, but some how it never occurred to me to try the Timmy for bass...

Yeah....have time to experiment lately. So, I’m running the Timmy into the Modele B to create a little more grit/OD. I tried the other way but preferred the Timmy > Modele B. Still experimenting. Would be great to know what you find.

Hmm. Doesn’t look like it takes a stereo input. Am I missing that? Ideally a stereo 1/4” input with a headphone out, powered by 9v C-

OBNE has a mono in version. Maybe I could ask for a Custom. Saturnworks might have something too.

Yeah it does have a stereo input. I have used it for monitor mixes for almost a year now. Mix goes into the quarter inch jack and my bass signal into the xlr. Really handy tool
