Show me your compact pedalboard setup

I have a tuner with front jacks. Still doesn’t fit on a pedalboard very well.

Newbie question:
Why do so many of the boards shown here have "pre-amp" boxes?
Is thabecause the venue you are playing at has a PA or similar sound system or
are you using with a separate remote power amp? Or do you disable the pre-amp
on your pre-amp/power amp combo and use the one on the board?

I think a lot of us in 2023 play directly into FOH or DAWs or in-ears. I actually run two preamps on my board, but generally leave them off when playing into an amp.

a lot of us play with in-ears and a silent stage. That is becoming more and more common.

I don't know about a lot of us. If your not playing to FOH or in a studio you don't need one. I bought into the hype before I really understood what EQ can do. That's what I should have bought and I'm getting around to that now. If I ever do any FOH venues I have a couple I could use, but not now...

As others have stated, a lot of us don’t use amps at all. I haven’t plugged into an amp in years, and don’t miss ‘em in the slightest.

I use" pre amps ", to flavour the tone
IE. A lot of bass players like a clean tone (say Ampeg SVT), by using a Ampeg "styled" pre amp U have the tone of a $4,000 , extremely heavy amp, in a little box . This applies to all amps, tones ...

I'm in a fair to middling bar band with a bunch of guys way over 60. We're ampless. It's becoming way more widespread. I love amps and all that, but carrying the below instead of even my 45lb, great sounding class D / neo rig is awesome.

That actually makes sense- house provides the hp and your pocket pre-amps control it...
and thus is it fair to say that someone who owns and gigs with a nice tube amp (SVT/Mesa) would
have no need for a pocket pre even if it was as well respected as a Noble...
