Show me your compact pedalboard setup

Not sure what kind of music you're playing, but in the absence of further specific info, I vote tuner>>Broughton HPF>>Diamond comp>>Underground Accelerator>>Finally.
Great suggestion, I’ll give that combo a shot. The Diamond is definitely unique among the other comps, even the Mira.
I would definitely add to this your MXR Poly Blue Octave early in the chain.

*The secret I find with the Poly Blue Octave is; don't be trying to keep your clean/dry Bass signal in the Octave mix with this synthy monster...it is what it is! :bassist:
The PBO is a recent purchase and I’m definitely still feeling my way around it.

The PBO is a workstation without menu diving/scrolling, to set-up sounds for various applications. Turning all the Octaves to zero gives you just the Fuzz (that you can set the volume mix for) and the Phase 90 modulation to control with a Tap switch.

The Expression Pedal function (no Tap switch) will let you set-up two completely different settings for heel & toe recall.

It's not a universal set and forget device, but is an amazingly expansive tool.

Here’s what I have available to put together a small board for grab-n-go directly to FOH and/or to an amp. So, the three DI options are on the left. Going to try a bunch of combos on my desk this weekend. What would you combine out of these (ignore the LS2)?

As @lomo said, I don't know what kind of music you are going for. So I can only really offer what I'd pick for myself here (assuming, mostly, a one-pedal-per-column selection). Can't tell what the pedals are underneath the Lab Rat, so unfortunately I can't put them up for selection.

Tuner > Poly Blue > UA > Proton and/or Digitech > HPF > Mira or Keeley > Finally

Not sure what you play, but I'd go tuner > filter > Spark > Empress Comp > Chorus > Finally

But tbh I'm not sure what a couple of those are. Fuzz after Spark if you have one.

Working on a board for my four string p bass since my larger board is for my five strings. I'm looking for an MXR footknob so I can turn the sub on and off on the Sub Machine.

I might switch the flanger for a phaser. Not sure yet. "Clean" tone is Diamond, Xotic RC, Ginger, Linden. Sounds full, round, warm, with great definition.

Edit: Too many side jacks!

Sure. I just quick sketched this up. The Swiff should fit on the upper shelf, the knob on the Spark should fit under the upper shelf. Would be pretty easy to 3D print this. only 4mm wider than the 1590A pedal.

Could always add a slot or hole in the back plate for a power cable. The arcs on the side are to give room for any side plug locations.

OK, I decided to see what this might look like. Went ahead and printed out the multi-story pedal. Added a power plug slot in the back (that needs a little adjusting).
I do not have either the Spark or the Swiff.
  • Used my HPF 1590A as the downstairs surrogate.
  • Pulled the Swiff dimensions from their website. Quick sketched up a same-sized box, then printed out to the right size.
I think I might have the second story a bit higher than it needs. That can be easily modified once one knows the clearance required for zlecro and the Spark with the knob height. I have the Broughton 1590A to show size.

It is more stable than I thought it might. I would likely add a couple trusses inside to keep the second floor from twisting when the Swiff is stomped. But, yeah, I think this concept could work and only take up 5-6mm more space than just the 1590A.

You should throw an arch in that 9v access hatch at the top and possibly reduce the bottom area in the middle to better accommodate a right angle plug!
Yeah, I just took a wag at the size and placement of the power port. I didn't have a pedal handy when I put that feature in. I think that if I just moved it up a bit, any 9v plug would work.

Where are my manners? I’m just a rock guy.

The two pedals below the Lab Rat are JAM Pedals Lucy Dreamer and a one off Eddie Rifkind “Ken” Speaker Manager - a bass version I asked him to build of the “Karen”. It’s basically a broken speaker type distortion with a clean blend. He’s done a couple of other riffs on it since then, but this is #1. Here’s the original listing that prompted me to ask for a bass version. Eddie Rifkind Karen Speaker Manager 2021 Pink Glitter - Build to Order | Reverb

Another great suggestion added to the list. Thanks!

The DOD DEEP FREEZE is outstanding! First time using it this morning onstage. I tried a lot of chorus pedals in the past, and I decided not to replace with my keeper from my last setup (Providence Adamine Bass Chorus) since it still had issues cutting through the mix. The Deep Freeze kept the low end better than any other I’ve tried, and without making it too rich and muffling the definition of the psychedelic tones. I’m super impressed. Bass stayed the same EQ in the mix but I got sweet and rich chorus tones. It’s super easy to deal in something interesting and usable. I figured most newer pedals I’d want, most of which left something for me to desire, went for basically the same ballpark as this collectors pedal, and I’m super happy and impressed. Lots of compliments from the band who usually don’t notice those details.

A 90s analog gem!

This pedal board f….

Ha Zbysek, maybe you already heard warnings about that rigid connector between your first two pedals, this can give unwanted stress/tension to the in & outlet connectors because the velcro leaves room for the pedals to 'wiggle' when stepping on the footswitches .

Hi, yes, I am aware of that. I think that due to the shape of this specific connector, the risk is smaller... Thanks though.
